Yes, quite a bit like that. Where was that taken?
In the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Reserve northwest of Lawton, Oklahoma. You see very similar rocks/hills from there out to Granite and Mangum. They, as I said above, are the granite cores of ancient, big mountains.

So what was your consensus, Christian? Were your questions answered adequately?

Re: Conclusion
Many of us have been talking with Christian in chat and following her questions here on the board, and personally, I think you are totally wrong. I believe that Christian is very sincere in her search and looking for infomation, regardless of where the path leads. She is a YEC right now. But above all she is a Christian searching for truth, and that will remain regardless of what she learns. She is also, very rightly, not going to simply take our word for the age of the earth. She is going to ask us to support our position and will compare the information we provide to that provided by Walt Brown and Kent Hovind. It is up to us to answer her questions fully and completely. In addition, we need to move at a pace she can accept and in steps that she can manage. The burden sits on our shoulders and time will tell whether we are capable of carrying it. As I've looked at those rocks a bit more closely, I realize that they are not smooth rocks that have been tumbled in water. They are composed of many smaller rocks, and they do appear to break apart in kind of a circular pattern. But it is documented that this whole area was once a huge lake, so I wasn't too far off, suggesting that water was involved.

Re: Conclusion
Thanks for your support Jar, I may become an evolutionist yet! Question is: are any of you folks willing to admit that you might be wrong? Nah, you've already researched everything and know you're right. Us YEC's are the only one's who could possibly be ignorant.

Re: Conclusion
I am willing to admit I am wrong, but not based on anyone's unsupported opinions. I need to be shown and convinced why your or YEC theories are better than mainstream science. Simply saying, "I think it's stupid" is not good enough for me. And no, most people have not researched "everything," but sometimes people have a lot of experience in certain areas of science.

Can the current TOE be wrong?
Question is: are any of you folks willing to admit that you might be wrong? Certainly. In fact it's very likely that we are wrong. That is inherent characteristic of the scientific method. As we learn more, as new evidence is found, all current theories are examined. When evidence is found that cannot be explained by the current theories, the theory is revised. That happens all the time. The TOE as used today is quite different from what was outlined in Darwins initial book. We have learned more and so know more.
Us YEC's are the only one's who could possibly be ignorant. Two issues. One is that the concept of Young Earth has been falsified. It's very likely, almost a certainty, that what we know about the age of the universe and the process of its development will change as we learn more. BUT, we will never go back to the Young Earth scenario. That much is certain. Also, being ignorant is not always bad. There is so much that I am ignorant of that I will certainly fill the rest of my life just learning and never get to the point where I know all. What is unforgivable, IMHO, is wilfull ignorance. That is where someone refuses to examine things that challenge personal beliefs. Aslan is not a Tame Lion

Re: Conclusion
Question is: are any of you folks willing to admit that you might be wrong? Why would that be something that's hard to admit? The basis of science is that we might be wrong. Can you imagine basing a religion on that? I can't.
Us YEC's are the only one's who could possibly be ignorant. Don't you find it kind of weird that nobody is first convinced of the scientific merit of YEC and then becomes a Christian? Don't you find it kind of weird that it's always the other way around? This message has been edited by crashfrog, 03-07-2006 01:43 PM

Just a short general reply to say that I'm glad you guys are willing to be proven wrong. I personally know that I am ignorant so I will reserve further comment until I've done more studying.

Easy to say...
It is easy to say that one is willing to admit to being wrong. I think you should judge on results not what I or anyone says. What you can see if you search around here is a few occasions when some of the posters have admitted to being wrong. I don't recall doing so myself but then I wouldn't remember; it is not a big deal.
