Re: Unbelievable!
Parallax, Smoothie. Look it up. Try to understand it - it's not at all difficult.
Eppur si muove.

Re: Unbelievable!
The seasons are explained by Sun's orbit. In winter it is far from us, in summer it is closer to us.
Well, yes, in Ausrralia. Five million km closer at perihelion, in January, than in July.
The smell of troll is overwhelming in here.

Speak to me of parallax, Smooth.
Tell me why only a subset of stars near the ecliptic make little back-and-forth squiggles once a year, while some of their brethren near the ecliptic poles make little circles, and some in between those extremes make ellipses.
Why is that? Why was it only proven to happen 170 years ago? How can it happen if the earth isn't the one moving relative to the so-called "fixed stars?"

SO, 'replying' to my repeated questions on parallax:
Maybe because they are moving in this way.
Maybe I'll win the Boston Marathon next year, Smooth.
Please propose a mechanism that would make a subset of stars do this little wiggle in your loonyverse with us stationary at the middle. Please be sure to account for the fact that the wiggle takes a year, where your imaginary whirling of the spheres takes a day.
Or go away, troll.

Re: Unbelievable!
Other galaxies are not gigantic groupings of gigantic stars.
O RLY? What are they? Bugs spattered on the Windshield We Call The Firmament? Why do we have photographs showing stars in other galaxies? What was Henrietta Leavitt looking at back in the 1920's - the things in other galaxies that looked like stars, had spectra like stars, and changed brightness just like variable stars?
