Maybe there has to be a creation week to justify people in medieval clothes parading around in pointy buildings on 'sabbaths' to provide a nice safe ritual version of Christianity. Maybe the only reason there is such a thing as a week is to provide protection from Christianity.
'whether or not the story in Genesis is true or false can't be proven.'
The story in Gen 1 is proven false in the literal sense by Gen 2. At least one of the stories must be allegorical (and probably both, as scholarship holds) and there was never any need for science to come along and say so. Indeed, this was believed for hundreds of years before Darwin and Wallace.
'What proof is there that indeed, in a absolute sense, that because gen 2 is contradictory to gen 1 that this means that gen 1 is false???'
There is no proof that any of it is true. These discussions are based on the premise that religious belief of a certain sort is founded on the truth of certain books. Now, laddie, your argument is blown to bits, and trying to shift goalposts is not good.
quote:If you know some of those fundamentalist would you please give me their name or tell me where I can find them.
Its a common excuse on the 'net, these days, ever since I first pointed out that Genesis contradicts itself if understood literally. Just look around. Fundamentalists pretend that they can't see the contradictions of Gen 2 with Gen 1, and employ their own bigoted circularity by insisting that Gen 2 is the detailed history of Gen 1, entirely removing the possibility of there being separate accounts from their terrified minds.
