Re: (insert mockery of Cedre here)
So I found this video on youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7cGK9OodVY
Its all about the subject of this thread.
I skipped through most of it, its 25 min., but I did happen to see these words right before the credits at the end, I think its an update for some of the people who were healed in the video:
quote:
John Rindel went for an AIDS test on April 12, He is still HIV positive.
Nine year-old Muller Starke went for medical tests on April 18, His heart condition remains unchanged.
Wium Basson died over the weekend.
A dude actually died because he thought he was cured. That really sucks. Bad.

Re: Re:Thankyou slevesque
You also have to keep in mind that any evidence for miracles will be eye-witness accounts and testimonies. And so if I want to invesitigate a particular 'miracle claim' all I will have to work with will be testimonies. To go beyond that, I will have to myself be subject to said 'miracle claim' so to have a personnal experience of it. But this of course, will become only be an eye-witness account for everybody else. It's sort of a viscious circle.
That's what double blind tests are for...
No miracle has ever passed a double blind test.
It could be a problem with the method, or a property of miracles, or it could just be that miracles don't exist

Re: Re:Thankyou slevesque
I'm not familiar with this tests and how it can be applied to a miraculous phenomenon.
Would you care to explain ?

Re: Re:Thankyou slevesque
Telling someone on a message board that you're not familiar with something is like telling someone at a buffet that you don't know what one of the items taste like.
Now that you've read up on double blind tests, is there something in particular that you're having trouble on with it being applied to the miraculous claims mentioned in this thread?
I'm not assuming anything about you, but such an open ended question is just too broad for me to take a gander at. How would I know where to begin?

Re: Jets or not Jets
Do you really think an average person would look at a turbo prop and call it a jet?
If you watch the video Mod linked to, the prophet's use of the word 'jet' doesn't really matter to the prophesy. He even pauses before he says as if he wasn't really going for a proper description of the flying mechanism of the vehicle and simply describing what he saw in his vision. Plus, his Engrish isn't the best in the first place.
I think that average person would be fine in describing the turbo prop plane as a jet. Personal jet is just a phrase.
I really think focusing on this one word doesn't help at all.

Re: Jets or not Jets
Did you watch the video yet? Have you seen his quote in context?
Its reasonable that if he saw a vision of that turbo prop plane that he would call it a jet in the way that he did.

Re: Jets or not Jets
It may not be technically right to call it a "jet" to most of us more familiar with aircraft but it is entirely possible that someone could call all aircraft "jets".
Well phrased.
If you watch the video, he says something along the lines of:
"and I see this family, getting into a... /shrugs... jet, and they're.."
I certainly looked and sounded like he was just referring to "some kind of aircraft" as a "jet".
Plus, his Enrish isn't the best so that might just be the first word he thought of.
All in all, it doesn't seem like a good point to be making in argument against the prophesy.
