A believer on this site writes:
Most people in the USA have heard the gospel. People who come to religious internet sites certainly have.
Hmm?
Typically, having 'heard the Gospel' would mean something along the lines of having heard:
a) you are a sinner.
b) the above news is bad news - eternal, negative, consequences attach to your sin.
c) take heart! - there is good news (the Gospel): God has done something to ensure you don't necessarily have to face the consequences of your sin.
d) if only you would; believe, repent, work, rely on grace ... and/or the like, then you will escape the consequences of your sin and enjoy eternal, blissful, life forever.
---
But what do the words 'the Gospel' actually mean:
- to the believer; who tries to communicate what he/she believes to be 'very important information' to the unbeliever?
- to the unbeliever; who (if they are reading this) has probably been swamped by various folks' take on 'THE(sic) Gospel'?
---
In other words:
how would you;
- deliver 'the Gospel' as you understand it, to the unbeliever?
- understand 'the gospel' as it has been thus far delivered to you, as unbeliever?
..in 200 words or less (more or less).

What can I say but...
Jaywill writes:
God became man so that man might become God, in life and in nature but not in His Godhead, for a corporate expression of the mingling of divinity and humanity for our eternal enjoyment and God's expression and kingdom. For this Christ came to redeem the fallen and Satanified man and became a life giving Spirit to enter into us and transform us into His image. The mingling of God and man is the meaning of the creation of the universe. The believer's destiny is the New Jerusalem, the incorporation of divinity in humanity for man's deification and the Triune God's indwelling.
..wow!

Lemmy writes:
I am the one Orgasmatron, the outstretched grasping hand
My image is of agony, my servants rape the land
Obsequious and arrogant, clandestine and vain
Two thousand years of misery, of torture in my name
Hypocrisy made paramount, paranoia the law
My name is called reLegion, sadistic, sacred whore

What third rate middle age punk rockers came up with this bit of wisdom inbetween their drugs and sleeping around with their groupies?
One small spelling change and it could have been so much different.

There is an interesting website that I would like to recommend that disproves the Bible step by step, you could visit it at:
http://WWW.SCIENCECLUBOFLONGISLAND.COM
Quite how
quote:
Deut 20: "But you may keep for yourselves, all the women, children and livestock and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you"
.. can be held up in evidence that God "approves of rape" (or that rape is even being referred to in the passage) is, as ever, beyond me. Given the rather lurid pictures attaching to the article, I'm inclined to suppose this site proves more about the mind of the sites owners than it does "disprove the Bible" (whatever that means).
Welcome to EvC by the way.

The disgusting nonsense that is in the Bible has nothing to do with the mindset of the authors. The disgusting quotes found in the Bible and their embrace by its followers shows the mindset of the believers.
This is explained of how more people have died in the name of Christianity reveals the violent mindset of its followers!
Yes, yes. But that isn't addressing the problem. This site is a place where you support your assertion. Whereas your site claims that this..
quote:
Deut 20: "But you may keep for yourselves, all the women, children and livestock and other plunder. You may enjoy the spoils of your enemies that the LORD your God has given you"
..shows God condones rape. But rape isn't mentioned in the passage. Which creates a bit of a problem for your claim. Perhaps it's you who is exhibiting faith..
