Some things are valid evidence and others are maybes, just as it is with QM, String, evolution and BB theory. The difference here, Buz, is that any "maybe's" in Quantum Mechanics, Relativity Theory, et-cetera, are sought to be proved. Once they are proven wrong, they are scrapped. Anything you are putting out has been disproven, yet you and your kind continue to use it. "Some people think God is an outsized, light-skinned male with a long white beard, sitting on a throne somewhere up there in the sky, busily tallying the fall of every sparrow. Othersfor example Baruch Spinoza and Albert Einsteinconsidered God to be essentially the sum total of the physical laws which describe the universe. I do not know of any compelling evidence for anthropomorphic patriarchs controlling human destiny from some hidden celestial vantage point, but it would be madness to deny the existence of physical laws."-Carl Sagan "Show me where Christ said "Love thy fellow man, except for the gay ones." Gay people, too, are made in my God's image. I would never worship a homophobic God." -Desmond Tutu

I guess if you use the word "corroborating" enough, something you say must be evidence.....
I'm disappointed, Buz. You have spoken so highly of this hard evidence you have for the biblical record. I was really looking forward to hearing something worthwhile that would make me think a bit. However, all you put forth is trite garbage and fear-mongering. hint: conspiracy theories are not evidence for anything. Stick to the faith and belief section, Buz. Any thoughts about the techy evidence, Hooah? Techy? What? My thought is that you are making shit up and refusing to stick the guidelines laid out in the OP. Like I said, a conspiracy theory is not evidence "Some people think God is an outsized, light-skinned male with a long white beard, sitting on a throne somewhere up there in the sky, busily tallying the fall of every sparrow. Othersfor example Baruch Spinoza and Albert Einsteinconsidered God to be essentially the sum total of the physical laws which describe the universe. ZenMonkey in his OP writes: To my mind, corroborating evidence is a set of data that is both independently derived and that also substantially supports the validity of a certain factual claim. ZenMonkey in his OP writes: So I'd like some specifics. What factual claims are being made about the Bible for which someone has independent evidence that isn't trivial? There is Zen in his OP. This is the sort of evidence being requested of you. Stop posting conspiracy theories about marks of the beast or monetary whatever and get on with hard factual concrete evidence. If you've none, admit it. If you have some, SHOW IT. Zen, have you forgotten that one reason you opened this thread is that Buzsaw kept on alluding to fulfilled prophecy And that, Buz, is why you are so ignorant. You really don't understand what is being requested, do you? Are you just playing dumb? It has been pointed out to you what this thread is about, yet you simnply refuse to address it. You are baring false witness Buz. You are being intellectually dishonest. For shame. Jesus is shitting himself right now, for his sole prophet, Buz, is screwing the pooch. The story of Babel most certainly is based on fact which is confirmed by history, archaeology and folklore. North of the Marduk temple in Babylon once stood a huge tower, and in this area archaeologist George Smith discovered a tablet with an account about the confusion of languages. The table reads in part: The building of this illustrious tower offended the gods. In a night they threw down what they had built. They scattered them abroad, and made strange their speech. Their progress they impeded. This wasnt a bible tablet, it was a babylonian one. Source Peg? You didn't pull it from Wiki Answers, did you? funny how it is WORDED EXACTLY THE SAME. For shame. Such dishonesty. Let me see what else I can dig up from your post. Should I bother? No, Peg. You pulled an answer from Wiki Answers, then claimed you got it from the Encyclopedia. THAT is dishonest. Do you have an encyclopedia to verify this fact? How can we be sure you aren't quote mining (which you've been prone to do in the past)?

In part the tablet reads: "The building of this illustrious tower offended the gods. In a night they threw down what they had built. They scattered them abroad, and made strange their speech. Their progress they impeded." Various lands yield additional evidence through their folklore, testifying to the miraculous change of tongues: "Versions have been recorded from near the Zambezi and also from Ashanti; among some of the Tibeto-Burman peoples of Assam the story of a tower and confusion of speech is found. Similar tales are found in Mexico." (The Encyclop—dia Britannica, Vol. 2, p. 839) yes, Peg. Plagiarism. You tried to change just enough so as not to get caught. The rest is directly ripped from that same page. There were only 8 mouths on the Ark? Do you have solid evidence that this is anything more than mere "coincidence"? Like, perhaps a study of ancient Chinese lettering that says it IS representative of the ark? The only reference to anything remotely similar is apologetics literature.

the sign for 'mouth' in chinese i believe is representive of people, not animals. So, there is a seperate caricature for non-homo sapiens mouths? Its funny He didnt intervene in a similar fashion during the construction of every skyscraper. He knew, I'm sure, that the intent of the tower of Babel was intended for the purpose of reaching heaven. I'm fairly certain he's a wise enough fella to know that skyscrapers aren't meant to reach into the heavens, what with being god and all. Surely, there is some extra-biblical evidence of a mass of holy men raising from the dead, yes?
Matthew 27:52-53 writes: 52And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Surely someone else wrote about this event.......
