Re: WOW!!!
1) I was explaining the thinking behind the sign to show that it isn't racist.

2) There is plenty of evidence that he grew up in a Muslim community and practiced Islam as a child.

3) HOW MUCH of a Muslim isn't the point; the point is that he denies ANY Muslim background at all, but there's plenty of evidence for it.

4) How it affects his thinking now I have no idea. I was just translating the sign for the racial accusers here.

and practiced Islam as a child.

Evidence please.

the point is that he denies ANY Muslim background at all

Do you mean he has denied his father, who was an atheist? Please provide evidence to back this assertion. How you will support this should be interesting.

I was explaining the thinking behind the sign to show that it isn't racist.

So there was no prejudice or bias in the sign? Wow!!

however many seem to imply hate toward Muslims

There is plenty of evidence that he grew up in a Muslim community and practiced Islam as a child.
This somehow makes him one now and not a Christian? I would like to see this proof you speak of...

the point is that he denies ANY Muslim background at all,

I wasn't aware he had... he simply said he was Christian....

Look at the pictures. That's no "thousand-strong." You've bought the media bias I'm talking about.

Re: WOW!!!
Obama isn't a practicing Muslim but he did grow up with a lot of Muslim influence in his family and he did go to a Muslim school for a while as a child. That's no problem in itself except that he has seemed to want to deny ANY such Muslim background at all in some contexts. But then you can find him talking about it on some You Tube videos if you go look, not that he IS a Muslim but that he certainly had a Muslim family and experience in a Muslim community in Kenya. You can also find him speaking Arabic and quoting Muslim sayings with obvious personal experience of their milieu.

Daniel Pipes, a columnist I suppose is hated here, has a column in which he documents Obama's Muslim connections:

http://www.danielpipes.org/...barack-obamas-muslim-childhood

I don't know about bias in the sign. Who cares if there is? There's plenty of that to go around everywhere and certainly right here. I was only saying I don't see anything RACIST in the sign.

That's public knowledge. As far as I know, he has never denied that.

Do you have any links to this supposed denial?

I have traveled to Muslim countries, have lived in one specifically for a little bit of time, and have a Muslim friend. I also have a Jewish brother-in-law, another friend who is Catholic, one Wiccan, a Jehova Witness uncle, my brother's girlfriend is Christian Science, brother is fundamental Christian, my wife and her family are Independent Baptist background, my grandfather was an Indepdent Christian Church minister, my parents are now atheists and I am an agnostic.

So according to your convaluted logic I am a Islamic, Jewish, Catholic, Wicca, Christian Science, born-again fundamental Christian, agnostic atheist because of my family history, background, affiliations and experiences.

That was fun

erm, no. I happen to live in the real world, not in the fantasy world constructed and maintained by Glenn Beck.

We knew this and was well known during the campaign.... Only Fundamentalist Christian conservatives freaked out .... sounds like bigotry to me...

That's no problem in itself except that he has seemed to want to deny ANY such Muslim background at all in some contexts.
when did he do this? Why did it matter? he is a Christian....

Re: some pics the media didn't show you
Faith, for all I know your handful of KKK-loving freaks may be the political wave of the future. All I'm saying is that people outside the US (and within it, though for some reason they're too afraid to say it) look at them and see a laughable bunch of retards who are - frankly - scary in their ignorance of both science and history. They are barely aware of the policital context of their own actions, ascribing "socialism" to a moderately right wing president. All I can say is, I hope they don't make life too miserable for the normal human beings living elsewhere in the United States, who by all accounts are pleasant people. The fact that these people who think that political activism involves putting a big teabag on top of their heads are constantly in the news, is depressing.

I know these people are in financial straights and it is my character to support them - but they will have to get rid of the pantomime and stop behaving like sheep to corporate america before I can do it.

There are a lot of us military folks that have learned Arabic, does that make us Muslims?

Re: WOW!!!
Re my message to faith above, the quoted material in this message is a perfect illustration of the mental subnormality of which I speak. I personally think Obama is a complete dick. As a politican he is a failure, unable to get anything he wants without incredibly costly buyouts of the corporate right. My opinion is not dependent upon his birth certificate nor his religion. But these right wing zealots- who might well have fair and sensible complaints to make- abandon rational discourse in favour of an endless and pointless discussion of Muslimhood

I agree to an extent. I do however think any politician that doesn't conform and cater to the corporate machine at least in some way won't last long. They own the government They have since the 1970's.... I hate to say it but small steps are the only way to fight.

What is the point? he is a Christian....

What I would like to know is what is the difference whether he was Muslim, Christian, Hindu, Buddhist, Shintoist, Jewish, Confucianist, Taoist or Atheist? What has a person's religious beliefs to do with his capabilities to govern? Anymore than what would be the difference whether a candidate was male or female; whether the candidate was heterosexual, bisexual or homosexual; whether the candidate was white, black or anything else? What has any of this got to do with issues? People should vote on issues not the person.
