Re: Humor / Spam
provide a healthy alternative to other violent games.
I wonder if they really wanted that "other" in there?

Re: Ageist hat on
You look like death
In the southern US it's "like Death eating a cracker."

Your milage may vary on whether you regard this as humor, but it is one of several examples from patent applications filed by folks at Halliburton:
The current invention provides a process and apparatus for determining the density of a flowing fluid without requiring knowledge of the fluid's Theological properties. The process of the current invention is capable of providing continuous "real time" analysis of fluid density. The apparatus of the current invention comprises at least two pressure assessment zones fitted with fluid pressure sensing points. Pressure sensing devices connected to the pressure sensing points provide the data necessary to enable the calculation of fluid density.
That particular piece made it into the public as the abstract of US Patent 6 807 857. The word bolded above was "rheological" before somebody's spellchecker got hold of it. I'm less certain why it would be capitalized, though.

Again: I LOL'd, and most folks may think "huh??":
I'm in Fort Worth, Texas, one of the biggest "cowtowns" in the US. Driving past the stockyard district last night, I saw a megachurch, not too far from the yards, with a big scrolling sign. It said, "God bless your cattle."

I've been told that you can't smell pheromones, or have I been lied to?
You can't sense pheromones with your vomeronasal organ, like a mouse or bull can, because human vomeronasal organs aren't wired up to human brains. The jury is apparently still out on what role the human (and great ape) sense of smell plays in sexual interactions. But there is some role - boy urine and girl urine smell quite different. I've changed many diapers on each, and I've been a janitor on a college campus. I know.
And I think sports are boring as hell - golf even worse than football. Cricket at least has the advantage of being completely fucking incomprehensible as well as boring....
