I'm so happy not to live in England now. Just imagining the endless chorus of self-pitying lamentations about the disallowed goal, as if it mattered in the face of how totally outclassed we were, sends shivers down my spine.
Apart from Fabio Cappello, nobody is using that excuse. Strangely, it makes it easier to accept the defeat because we were outplayed, rather than by thinking we were hard done by.
I hate to say it, but there's so much we can learn from the Germans. There's so much they get right at every tournament. You can't qualify for at least the quarter finals at
every World Cup, and reach 7 finals, without doing a lot of things right. We keep doing things our way and it never works. I really hope the FA doesn't consider the only option is to change the manager. We played poorly at the last World Cup too (where we bumbled into the quarter finals by playing a succession of poor teams), and didn't even qualify for the last Euros. There are fundamental problems with the way we approach the international game.
