The Bicycle Team Challenge

Hey RAZD!Count me in. I've been railroaded into participating in a local duathlon (the biking portion of a relay), so I've been piling on the miles for the last week or so. Last week=60 miles. This week=90 miles. This coming week won't be so heavy, but my wife and I have a long ride coming up pretty soon (50-60 miles) so I'll keep you posted on that too. I'll probably be good for about 60-80 miles a week if the weather's nice...Good idea! Have a good one.{abe}: Not much shoulder on that road, there fella. Careful ... my wife's taken to wearing a neon-yellow jersey when riding on certain roads around here. Ah, I see that now. Should have used a little power of perspective, in that no respectable automobile would have fit to the right of that broken line. We also have a nice long rail line in this area (60 miles), and it's a beautiful ride, called "The Woebegon Trail". Too bad I can't stand Garrison Keillor. It's not that his radio show sucks (at least not all the time), but that his voice just drones on and on until I inadvertently nod off. So no Prairie Home Companion in the car for this Minnesotan... I'll check to see if my local bike shop has flags, and if they're sorted as to political affiliation. I assume left leaning flags are taxed at a higher rate...Oh, add another 20 miles for this morning for me. Thanks.Have a good one.

Awesome, Theodoric!I find that, like RAZD said, padded shorts are a must. Even with the shorts, my butt and inner thighs need some conditioning bruising for the first few rides. But then the "calluses" build up and you're good to go, at least until mileage increases.But those first rides: YOWCH!Nice bike, BTW. Enjoy your vacation from the combustion engine. Have a good one.

Chalk me up for two more rides, 40 miles total.Duathlon Saturday.

Hey RAZD...Duathlon went great Saturday! No wind, great temps--felt awesome! 21 miles in 55 minutes: 22.5 mph average, which is a personal best, so I'm feeling pretty good about it.Chalk me up for another 66 miles from then until today.

Sorry for the lapse--been busy (not too busy to ride), board was down, etc, etc...Looks like 283 miles since last post. I'll try to keep a little more up to date. Have a good one.
