Punisher
Darkest super-hero has to go to the Punisher under the Max imprint when Garth Ennis wish writing.
I always found the punisher too concrete in his conviction, too lacking in self doubt, too black and white - To be truly interesting as a character.
But I don't know the writer you are referring to. So that may well have changed since I last took interest in such things (many many years ago)

Hi, Straggler.
Bad jokes : onifre :: creation "science" : evolutionists
If you want any of the rest of us to commit ritual suicide, tell us the one about Piltdown Man or the one about the Second Law of Thermal Documents.

3 men walk Into a bar.....
Bad jokes : onifre :: creation "science" : evolutionists
A comedian, a creationist and an atheist walk into a bar......
The barman says - "Whichever one of you makes me laugh the most get's free drinks all night".
The creationist says - "The Earth is less than 10,000 years old and Noah shared the ark with his pet Tyrannosauras Rex"
The atheist says - "The universe popped into existence about 15 billion years ago and our entire existence is due to nothing but blind random chance"
The comeidian says - "With you two fucking jokers in tow I am out of a job" before throwing his mic at the barman and storming off to review his career options.
If you want any of the rest of us to commit ritual suicide, tell us the one about Piltdown Man or the one about the Second Law of Thermal Documents.
Dude - I tried.....

Punisher was always one of my fave characters (perhaps bc I lean towards the more violent ones), but he is one of the more simpler ones to write for....character wise. I would like to forget all three Punisher movies though. Awful.

Urgh. Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut. Just awful. I really liked Kelsey Grammer as Beast, but that's about all I can find to say about that film that isn't abuse.
Yeah, Kelsey portrayed a great Beast. The Juggernaut, one of my all time faves, again...another example of a comic character being misportrayed in the movie. They couldnt find an actual body building American red head? To put an English guy in a body suit.............

Making a sucky comicbook adaptation is par for the course, but making Deadpool suck worse than he did already takes a real talent for screw ups. I've seen worse though; some of the action was okay.
I'm hoping the "sucky comicbook adaptation" that usually is par for the course...........isnt. I have no interest in the upcoming Green Lantern (but I do hope it performs well), but look forward to Thor.
Iron Man though, needs to get a villian thats NOT in a suit of armor though. Theres only so many "robots" you can fight before it becomes quite boring.

Re: Punisher
Punisher: Warzone was good. It was based on Punisher Max imprint and had several scenes lifted right from the comic.

Aw c'mon! Yeah, he made a great Punisher..but the movie was lousy! How about the Punisher walking through the city, decked out in his uniform and guns galore......right past everyone, no problem asked. Huge explosive, gazillion rounds of ammo shot finale...but no cops at the end. Even Jigsaw and his henchemn were weak! The director treated the movie like a silly BAD comic book instead of injecting some realism into it.

Franken-Castle!
Darkest super-hero has to go to the Punisher under the Max imprint when Garth Ennis wish writing.
Did he set it in Belfast and have Castle swill pints of Guinness and chase Irish girls? That's what he normally does. I've never quite forgiven Ennis for derailing John Constantine so badly.
BTW, have you seen this...
Frank Castle is... Franken-Castle! Now if you're going to derail a character, do it with style!

They couldnt find an actual body building American red head?
Or just someone who could act. Even a little bit.
I have no interest in the upcoming Green Lantern (but I do hope it performs well), but look forward to Thor.
I'm optimistic about the GL movie. If ever there was a super hero character who was ideally suited to the CGI treatment, it's GL.
Currently, the comicbook adaptation I'm most excited about is Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. (Linky) It's based on a six-volume set of graphic novels that rate as some of the best and most original I've seen in a long time. Edgar (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) Wright directs. Should be great.

Yeah, then I had to gouge out my eyes and stick a pencil up my nose to lobotomise myself!
Makes Warzone look like Shindler's fucking List!!

Re: Franken-Castle!
I've never quite forgiven Ennis for derailing John Constantine so badly.
That's a pity, I'm reading through Constantine (by way of Sandman) and I was looking forwards to the Ennis run.
The way I see it Constantine is a bit of a douche; how does Ennis portray him?
A far as I remember Ennis steers clear of the old 'Oirish' thing (much like in Preacher).
But he has a nice range of cultural stereo types in 'The Boys'.
