This thread topic: Message 1
...has eventually lead to this point: Message 91
It is a wonder why this topic was ever promoted, and even more astonishing why it has progressed so far without the slightest shred of apparent merit.
CrazyDiamond7 has consistently been making bare, unsubstantiated, *insane* claims without any sign of backing them up with anything other than bald assertion. It is a travesty that he hasn't been admonished, its embarrassing that the thread remains open, and disappointing that there have been no repercussions for its infliction on the community.

Exactly, and my reason for posting in this thread is just that. The reason we have mods and rules here in the first place is so we don't have to skirt around threads or posts like dog poo on the sidewalk.

Re: The "Return to Immortality -- There is no death by natural causes" topic
Oh, how very clever and witty of you.
What ever happened to "Always treat other members with respect." Or is that just for members?
Edited by Phage0070, : No reason given.

Re: The "Return to Immortality -- There is no death by natural causes" topic
Sure it was funny, CD7 is obviously a nutcase. But thats not the point.
Topics promoted into forums such as Faith and Belief are subject to the forum guidelines. Members are supposed to treat others with respect, argue the position not the person, and avoid hectoring among other things. My pointing out the similarities between CD7 and Dr. Strangelove was unfortunately hectoring, and I apologized for it.
The point is that there is moderation before every topic is promoted (to anything other than the Coffee House or Free for All at least). There is also presumably moderation within each thread to determine if the posts remain on topic and the thread continues at the standard required for promotion. CD7's thread was not only an abject failure of moderation on all of those counts, but it was apparently an intentional one.
This conveys a number of things to me, and the community at large. Skipping over the damage to any reputation EvC might have, it primarily erodes the authority any action of moderators might have. Have a thread proposal rejected? Apparently its just at a whim, because they will happily promote nonsense. Have a thread you are posting in closed? Apparently its just out of spite; CD7's thread is still not locked even after an Administrator posted in a moderation thread to that effect.
So there you have it. Hypocrisy and lack of respect for their own rules can only lead to the community sharing that lack of respect. Watch this space (my username) to see how.
Adminnemooseus, you are a fool. Apparently I am an idealist, what are you?
