The Nonsense of Revelation 13 Economics

So God will torture those who do have the mark. It's hard to tell one Beast from the other without a program. By that standard, we've had a "global monetary system" for centuries: gold.

So is understanding that Long John Silver was a pirate who was "smart as paint". Understanding what the literature says has no bearing on whether or not the literature is true.

Revelation 13 doesn't say anything about a cashless society.

It's about permission to do business. And it isn't something that "dumb" people are dumbly choosing - it's forced on everybody.

A mark is a mark. It doesn't need to be a "chip" or anything else that you project on it. There is nothing in Revelation 13 that points directly to today or our near future.

You're not reading Revelation 13. It says that everybody, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, will get the mark. The only exceptions will be outlaws, hiding in the hills eating roots and berries. We already have those guys but not all of them are prophecy nuts. Some of them are just nuts.

Jesus didn't say any such thing. He said, "Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's." (Matthew 22:21) He advocated compliance.But you're still missing the point of Revelation 13. it's a message to Christians. It's the prophecy-believing Christians who are more likely to fall for the Anitchrist and accept the mark of the Beast - because they're gullibble.

True Christians who have love and brains and courage are not taken in by foolish interpretations of prophecy (such as yours) either.You're old enough to remember when the Soviet Union was supposedly the fulfilment of a lot of prophecy. Every generation seems to think that the Revelation is aimed directly at them - and every generation has been wrong.

That's what the prophecy nuts always say. For a while it was the Soviet Union. Before that it was Hitler. Before that it was Napoleon. Before that it was the Turks. Before that it was Genghis Khan. Whoever they are currently demonizing perfectly fits the prophecy.A hundred years from now it might be Botswana. The prophecy always fits if you use a big enough shoehorn.

Prophecy nuts didn't know about the Soviet Union in 1800 either. That's why the prophecy "exactly matched" Napoleon at that time. It's only with 20-20 hindsight that they realized that the Soviet Union was a better "exact match". So who's to say that something else won't be an even better "better exact match" in the future?When you're grasping at straws, you're likely to find them.

I'm not blaming anybody for anything. I'm warning you that you are the one who is susceptible to doing silly things because of your belief in prophecy.

That isn't what I'm saying.I'm saying that you're more likely to take the mark than I am.Because you're gullible. Some televangelist will offer you (for a small donation) a magic wristband that will protect you from the Beast and you'll order six of them.

You don't need a chip to do that. The rich have been controlling people's finances for millennia. There is nothing unique in current events that corresponds to Revelation 13. Being wrong for 40 years doesn't make a good resume.

No they don't. The mark is only one bit of information, true or false, yes you can buy and sell or no you can't. That information can be conveyed by a tattoo or a brand and those technologies have been around forever. Who cares? The mark is about buying and selling, yes or no.Before microchips, the prophecy nuts thought debit cards were the mark of the beast. Before that it was credit cards. Before that it was personal cheques. Before that it was paper currency. Before that it was yada yada yada.Prophecy nuts have always been so arrogant as to assume that the prophecies in the Bible were aimed specifically at them in their time. They've always been wrong. So why should we believe that your arrogance is different?
