Easter and Pentecost are simply Christian adoption of Jewish celebrations, of Passover and Shavuot. And look up Sukkot as well. It too was one of the mandatory pilgrimage festivals.Christians simply adopted existing festivals and arbitrarily assigned Christian themes to them. That is also true for Christmas (Jesus was not the reason for the season) and All Hallows Eve and Mardi Gras.

Ringo, Yes church Christians are materialistic and think wealth via any means shows their holiness and godliness (In most cases not all) Yes they will take the MARK, but true Christians who have love and brains and courage will NOT. That's what the prophecy nuts always say. For a while it was the Soviet Union. Before that it was Hitler. Before that it was Napoleon. Before that it was the Turks. Before that it was Genghis Khan. Prophecy nuts didn't know about the Soviet Union in 1800 either. That's why the prophecy "exactly matched" Napoleon at that time. It's only with 20-20 hindsight that they realized that the Soviet Union was a better "exact match".
