What to do about this skepticism? It seems to me that ID may be an avenue to explore that skepticism.
But why do you think that? the main people behind ID haven't actually done anything resembling science with the concept in years. It appears they realised it was a busted flush years ago and that when they switched over to the current tactic of "teaching the controversy".
I have no problem with exploring design - but the concept of ID seems to have finished as a scientific effort a while back.

Re: logical leap off the precipice, better start phlapping
It should be pointed out that if we have emails that it's no more of a problem to email all rather than a selective group - I don't think we want to leave ourselves open to charges of trying to pull a shellgame.
Let's take this nice and slow and I think we can really produce something that is of real worth (well at least for like minded souls on the net).

Re: protocols, please
I can given time provide a web survey that will collect the results but will not identify those answer the questions (on top of assurances to the people who complete it).
Scales, tickboxes and the like would be no problem.

Re: protocols, please
I would be quite interested to see the use of a scale for one of the question. It could try and gauge how their viewpoints have changed over time. So ... how convinced are they of the merits of ID (and then the same but with evolution) since they signed the statement - More/less/same (but on a 1-10 scale)?
