Re: Grrrr @ the polarising nature of this issue
I'm glad it happened too. But I don't think it will end the war on terror. That war is a guerrilla war and those kinds of wars are the hardest ones to fight, so I don't think it'll be over any time soon. And I'd still rather fight it over there instead of here on home soil.

Re: Regarding Rhetoric, Emotions, Irony and Healing
So because one government helped Bin laden that means all 310 million Americans are responsible for him? Forever and ever?
That kind of generalized statement shows that many people overseas don't understand how the American voting system works. And probably don't care because they want to be holier than thou.
Secondly, the celebrations are different than the Muslims. The Muslims are celebrating the deaths of thousands of innocent civilians because they are incapable of discerning civilians from military.
More importantly, it is a celebration of life, because with his death Al Qaeda has been hurt. While it remains to be seen how bad, it does indeed mean that more innocent people will now get to live.

Re: Regarding Rhetoric, Emotions, Irony and Healing
According to the Iraqi Body Count:
Iraq Body Count
So that's a far cry from the millions of civilians dead. So there's something screwy in that statement of millions.
dronester was very clearly telling you that assassinating bin Laden, and in fact the general US policy of using military force to combat terrorism (as opposed to more appropriate police, intelligence, and occasional special forces actions) is basically identical to the doctrine Isreal has been using for years to do the same, with absolutely zero success. Military response does not curtail terrorism, it encourages more.
Right. So we should just let them kill us and we should just give up because we can't hope to fight them all. Brilliant.
And Israel is not a terrorist state.

Right, because sanctions are done against countries for fun and profit.
