Re: Perry - Intellectual Heavyweight?
Obviously not the most stellar student but what make you say he "hates" education?
Not that it makes any difference. We don't need another god damn southern governor in the White House. But that's just me.

Re: Rick Perry, Hurrah
Yeah, and Michele Bachmann won the straw poll in Iowa.
The only logical conclusion one can make of this is obvious.
Once again, Charles Manson didn't make parole.
Do you really wish someone had murdered Bachmann the way Manson did Tate? Hate baiting?
I know the hatemongers in both camps do this all the time and then we get so incensed at the low state of our politics. We can take a stand somewhere and say "Let's not do this."
Tongue in cheek, I know, but, anglagard, even in jest this should be beneath you ... and us.

Re: Rick Perry, Hurrah
I think his point is that given the Republican's predilection for crazy candidates, Bachmann and Perry would have been easily outstripped by Charles Manson if only he was available to run.
I'll accept that. I think I was being a bit too sensitive anyway.
I am just not looking forward to the inundation of BS, hate mongering, deceit and petty "sensational" issues our quadrennial political fuck fest is about to unleash on all of us poor slobs.

Re: Rick Perry, Hurrah
You're not?
No, I'm not. But it will suck me in. It always does.
There has always been mud and petty squabbles taking the limelight in politics, especially at this level of course, but there also used to be more discussion on real issues. These days it's more a spattering of issues buried under an avalanche of hatespeech and a media (including the partisan internet blogs and political forums) concentration on every gaff, stumble and innuendo whether real or not all dripping with bile and blood.
Is there really any doubt that in the coming festivities, instead of the economy and geopolitics, the discussion from the right will resurrect "birth certificate-gate" and "moslem-gate"? And from the left "religion-gate" and "st*pid-gate"? And from the main stream media "gay-gate" and "boxers v briefs-gate"?
Just a small example that got me started on this some time ago. Does anyone remember Carter's speech at West Point on Defense policy during his second campaign? On the advise of his media handlers he had re-parted his hair on the other side. For the next two weeks that's all the pundits talked about. Not a word on his defense stance.
And in my view this has only gotten more blatant and more mean-spirited and has now become downright spiteful and hateful, to the exclusion of all else, in the past few election cycles.
I'm an old political junkie. Shit is to be expected and expected often. But an exclusive diet of shit washed down with only bile and blood is becoming too much.

A Real Race?
Any one ever hear of Jon Huntsman?
An interesting conservative. Not crazy religious but fiscally conservative. Not totally anti-same sex relations though he does oppose marriage. Not anti-science. Evolution and Global warming adherent.
Probably not nutty enough for Republicans though. Too bad. Might be an interesting race.

Re: A Real Race?
Well they have if they've read this thread, since he was on my list in the OP
Been so long since I read the OP. Thanks.
Does the nutty wing of the party have to win?
Well that seems to be what everyone wants, including the Republicans.
The Republicans offered us McCain last time.
And McCain offered us What's-Her-Twit. Good god, even the moderates have the disease!
It seems a pipe dream but it would be nice to have a competent moderate from the right emerge. Someone without horns and fangs or that "What?" look in their eyes.

Re: Q: WHEN WILL US BEGIN TO RESPOND FOR 9/11?
US Christians chant its a blessing to kill the infidels. US Christians are perpetrating terror all over the world.
Yea, about that, Joe. Y'all and your European cousins have been doing that for more than a millennium now and it's not gotten you much of anything. Don't you think it's time to stop?

UUSR, China are oppositions, not enemies ...
Please tell, what does the Unitarian Universalist Society of Rockport (Massachusetts) have to do with anything?

Not a clue...
How could you not know, Joe? You called the Unitarian Universalist Society of Rockport (UUSR) our opposition?
If these guys oppose America we should know how? Why? Based on what?
Do not keep this new opponent a secret from us, Joe! Inquiring minds want to know.

Re: Q: WHEN WILL US BEGIN TO RESPOND FOR 9/11?
What I do know is the issue facing the world ...
Then how does the UUSR fit into this? I'd never heard of these guys. What do you know about them?
I looked up Hindu Holocaust and found these:
quote:
The Hindu Holocaust continues throughout the world today. What is left of modern India is still rife with a growing population of Muslims and the continuing threat of Christian missionaries, openly seeking to wipe out Hinduism, which is not only the majority religion of India, but more than that, the Indian way of life and her very culture.
quote:
Muslims in India are offered a financial subsidy to pay for their religious pilgrimage to Mecca (the Hajj Subsidy), and Christian missionaries are allowed to run rampant using various forms of deception and material promises to convert entire villages, while the Hindu religion is denigrated in India’s universities. Patriotic Hindus are called fundamentalists and fanatics, while Muslim and Christian terrorists carry out an unprecedented campaign of murder and violence against Hindus.
source
Does this UUSR have anything to do with this?

A Texas Ditty.
A little Texas ditty for y'all in support of Bro. Rick Perry for President.
Honesty in his convictions. Steadfast. All them good qualities.
This is not set to song. You're gonna have to read the words and think the music.
Oh, and be prepared to yodel.

... bad voting that got us into this mess in the first place.
Unfortunately, this is not in jest. We are this government and we now have the government we deserve.
Enjoy the show, people; the ineptitude, the sheer st*pid*ty on display. We cast this government in our own image.

It's not their fault that the House elections were gerrymandered.
Maybe not in your neck of the woods but in my state we elect and re-elect ... and re-elect ... the legislatures that do the gerrymandering. From Dog Catcher to President this is all we the people's doing.
Please don't get me wrong. Having an arrogant, obsessive/compulsive government that reflects the society, not just divided but schizophrenic, is far less intolerable than most alternatives we see most people living under.

-Senator Obama, 2006
Now that he's on the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue, with a whole different set of responsibilities than a lone voice in the Senate, are you really surprised by this?
