Unanswerable
it's an infuriating question because once you understand the answer it's obvious and simple but it's a perennial - it just won't go away. The reason it won't is because evolution is not understood by most people and ignorant religionists repeat this supposedly slam dunk question over and over.
You are making a bad assumption at the start - that any amount of "answering" will overcome the Creationist mindset.
This, unfortunately, is not true.
We're talking about Religious Conservatives who have a VERY strong affinity for "simple" answers. It doesn't really matter to them if the answer is right or wrong, so long as it is simple.
Any amount of "correcting", "explaining" or "answering" that contains more words than the original statement simply isn't going to work.
"If we came from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?" is fundamentally not different than "If CO2 is so bad for global warming, why do plants need it to survive?"
To them, they've exposed an obvious gaping hole in the reasoning on the other side and the fact that their question demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of the topic is irrelevant. They are DONE thinking.
ANY response you give them apart from laughing in their face is just "spin" or "book smarts".
Better to just write these people off, hand them mops, pat them on the head and spend our time and resources on people who can actually make some sort of difference in the world.

How's this?
It fails. Sorry.
The more words you use, the more it sounds like you are lying. "Well, that college boy sure does talk in circles."
These are simple minded people who pride themselves in their lack of education and unwillingness to consider anything in depth. "Book smarts" is, to them, the worst insult you can hurl at someone.
You can't use terms like "troglodytes" or "parallel" etc. You're just going to confuse and scare them.
As I pointed out before, these people want SHORT and EASY to grasp sound bites.
"If I descended from an ape, how come apes are still here?"
"If America declared independence from England, why is there still England?"
Done.
They can grasp the idea that America breaking away from England doesn't make England disappear.
I hesitate in the use of the word "independence" because it has too many letters, but I assume that they are familiar with the 4th of July so hopefully it won't scare them too much.

I know nothing about Homer but I assume that's because I never had to study him, not because I'm stupid.
Homer in a few brief seconds.
Wife Marge, Children Bart, Lisa, Maggie
Lives in Springfield
Works at a nuclear power plant as a safety supervisor
Hobbies include drinking Duff Beer and watching TV
Catch phrase "Doh"
Skin tone Yellow
Hair a few strands
It may be the case that hyper-religious people are dumb (ie possibly 40% of all Americans) but in some other parts of the world it ain't like that.
But "other parts of the world" aren't going to be asking you "how come there's still monkeys?"
Look, as I said before, if you are talking about someone under the age of 12, go for it. They are likely asking the question for real.
Anyone older than that is not asking a question. They are making a statement about their faith and this is a rallying cry.
You can literally spend an entire year discussing in detail with them every little bit of this and it won't make any difference whatsoever.
Look at ICANT for example. He posts the same shit time and time and time again. It's been picked over in GREAT detail by at least 20 other people. His points have been refuted endlessly. His claims have been shown to be false.
Doesn't make one bit of difference to him.
They don't care that they are wrong.
They take PRIDE in being wrong.
Being wrong for Jesus is better than being right in their book.

Yawn revisited
It's time to provide evidence of your education big mouth. Until then you are a pathetic internet troll.
Chucky, chucky, chucky.
I'll just refer you back to the last 4-5 replies I've made to you demonstrating your lack of maturity and consistent hypocrisy.
By the way, I'm EXTREMELY proud of you for using "you are" instead of "your".
Are you learning? Or did you do this by accident?

Let's talk about Al
It's not me
Alright, I see that a lot of people have been trying a lot of different tactics.
I'm not going to go back an read all 250 posts to see what's been posted. Clearly you are not convinced.
I'll simply ask you two questions:
#1) What do you feel is the best explanation for the fossils that exist?
#2) What would you expect/need to see to be convinced that fossils represent changes over time from one set of features to a different set of features?
Can you answer these two questions honestly?

Re: Let's talk about Al
Issues such as the effects of weathering, diet change, environmental factors, and medicine seem to be completely ignored.
Is it possible that issues which you think "seem to be completely ignored" are actually issues about which you have not researched?
Have you bothered to look up what paleontologists have studies in regards to weather on fossils? Or about the effects of the various kinds of earth where they are found?
As for "diet change" and "medicine", I fail to understand exactly what your objection is?
Are you saying that paleontologists haven't studied T-Rex fossils to determine which medicines they were or were not taking?
On that you've got us. We also haven't studied to see if they liked Cheers episodes with or without Diane.
At a certain point, you restrict the research to only those things which are plausible.
