Random Musings
We all fall short, Jon. Faith is the promise that after we have done our best, God does the rest. Chuck, have you ever heard of RC Sproul? Im listening to him now...he is a good apologist.

Re: Random Musings
Huh? Did I stutter? Stop acting like jar and expecting me to explain myself to your standards. Are you puzzled as to how God works? Are you thinking I am making stuff up? Really Jon...I expect more from an agnostic theist.

Random Irrefutability
That's irrefutably funny, Mike. Ive a question for you, however. Since science and creationism seem to have divergent conclusions, are the scientists merely blinded by a truth they cannot handle, in your opinion?

Iran best watch its step
Seems Iran is getting desperately blusterous. Telling the US not to have any carriers in that region is nothing more than a slap in the face of our global rights. I say we blow them off of the map if they keep that up.

Re: Iran best watch its step
General Wesley Clarke says that there is an ultimatum time arriving, and that we (and Israel) may likely significantly damage some of Irans capability to wage war. Since we do not propose to occupy them, such a war will be affordable. If they got any ideas at counterattack, a US carrier, for example, such a war could well escalate to a limited nuclear exchange if necessary. I doubt whether they would be so foolish as to challenge us. The prospect of a nuclear Iran is simply unacceptable to us, be we morally and ethically right or not.

Iran will never claim a part of Sinatras world
us is the United States, the people who claim the necessary oil that they require and who will never give control of such a region up to some imaginary Islamic Empire. Today, there was another article: |Iran says U.S. warships in Persian Gulf spawn 'mayhem' The bottom line is that Iran has not the power nor the authority to close the strait of Hormuz unless they wish the wrath of Allah himself and 200 million American gasoline consumers backing such a strike.
quote: Cmdr. Amy Derrick Frost, spokeswoman for the U.S. 5th Fleet based in Bahrain, responded at the time, "Anyone who threatens to disrupt freedom of navigation in an international strait is clearly outside the community of nations; any disruption will not be tolerated."...and....After Tuesday's warning from Iran, a Pentagon spokesman issued a statement saying "deployment of U.S. military assets in the Persian Gulf region will continue as it has for decades." The United States has had forces in the Persian Gulf since World War II. Its ships sail through the Persian Gulf frequently, many on their way to and from the 5th Fleet's headquarters in Bahrain. The 5th Fleet's area of responsibility covers about 2.5 million square miles, including the Persian Gulf, which the Navy also refers to as the Arabian Gulf; the Red Sea; the Gulf of Oman; and parts of the Indian Ocean.

Re: Who's best?
jar writes: Well it may well be "the way of the world" but the question is "Is it the best or even better way?" The thing i never liked about the U.N. is any po-dunk nation with 2000 people had the same say as a nation with many millions. Someone has to be in charge, or else all you have is a gridlock of nations who demand more when they themselves have little to offer themselves. As for which way of life is best, a case can be made against our nation/culture, as we are far too materialistic for our own good and consume far more than our share. It would be hell on earth if every other nation followed our pattern because there simply isn't enough left to consume ...at the rate we did. This is even now a problem as China seeks to follow our pattern somewhat. They simply cannot be allowed to consume anywhere near the scale we did. Even though we have been pigs, however, is no reason that it is fair to discriminate against us. After all, we have the biggest stick, though it seems primitive to have to use it. Im not sure how consensus will ever be found on this planet without wars, however.
