Larni writes: I never played to Borderlands co op. I heard horror stories of modded cheaters buggering up saves. I wouldn't doubt those stories... The co-op I play is simply the splitscreen with my wife. So we're mod-free, cheaters-free, jerks-grabbing-all-the-good-gear-free... all that stuff Aside: Diablo 3 is implementing separate loot drops for each player so that no one can grab your loot that drops. They also have an online-only requirement that will greatly restrict mods, dupes and cheaters. I'm looking forward to a game that's removed those kinds of griefing.

But in thi one instance, can you honestly say that guy is healthy looking? If I'm any judge his BMI is at least 30. I think he's fat-looking. I'm trying to tell you that nobody can judge his health just by looking. Fat active people are half as likely to die early than thin sedentary people because they're healthier. They're also fat, as stipulated! And likely to stay that way. Whether his BMI is 30 or 30,000 is irrelevant; that's just another way of saying "he's fat", not "he's unhealthy." BMI is not a proxy for health, either. You'd be surprised how many marathon runners have a BMI that puts them in the category of "obese." Weight is not a proxy for health. I don't understand why that's not sinking in for you. Well, I guess I do - the kind of righteous indignation you can feel at the expense of fat people is addictive, you're addicted to it, and your mind - like that of a creationist - is simply going to reject any contrary evidence long before your conscious mind will even notice it. Here's a fun study:
quote: http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/721613 "Mass-balance" is dead. Eating the whole bag of chips isn't what makes you fat.
I just can't see it. Well, naturally. You're a bigot.

Well, upon further investigation, SW:TOR can fuck right off. I don't game enough to pay a monthly fee.
Will I need to purchase a monthly subscription in order to play Star Wars: The Old Republic? Yes, a monthly subscription is required to play Star Wars: The Old Republic. Players will be able to select one of three different subscription options:

Well, naturally. You're a bigot. So I say quite clearly that I'm not dismissing what you are telling me but give you my honest thoughts on the situation and I'm a bigot? This is the first time I've ever seen the kind of research implying larger people could be just as healthy. Saying that I'm taking what you are telling me on board and acknowledging my comment as assholy isn't quite what I would characterise as creo like bigotry. Do you realise that your verbal broadside very nearly blinded me to the factual information of your post? The above ontological example models the zero premise to BB theory. It does so by applying the relative uniformity assumption that the alleged zero event eventually ontologically progressed from the compressed alleged sub-microscopic chaos to bloom/expand into all of the present observable order, more than it models the Biblical record evidence for the existence of Jehovah, the maximal Biblical god designer. -Attributed to Buzsaw Message 53 Moreover that view is a blatantly anti-relativistic one. I'm rather inclined to think that space being relative to time and time relative to location should make such a naive hankering to pin-point an ultimate origin of anything, an aspiration that is not even wrong. Well, Larni, let's say I much better know what I don't want to say than how exactly say what I do.

Eh, it'll be free to play in, like, six months or so. That's probably when we'll get into it, anyway. Currently we're up on Skyrim around here.

Word. I like the fact that if you want to play in a PvP warzone its easier (takes less time in a queue) because your faction is in the minority.
Any MMO I have played I have done the same. that way, PvP victories feel like they are earned, in the event that the PvP battle is team v team as opposed to 1on1. Yea, it sucks. It completely pushed me away from the game. What little actual skill is involved (at least in this particular game I mentioned), the little pricks who have mommy's unlimited credit card PWN ass because they can buy gear and make it a shit experience for any serious player who can't dump 100's of dollars a month/week on shit. But as a Casual Gamer in his 30s, who has a real 9 to 5, and works all day 5 or 6 days a week, it also sucks that there are kids, or guys who work less than you do who have and extra 20+ hours per week to devote to a game, and completely make it less fun because they got plenty of time to game and you do not. I doubt that many of those little pricks are using Mommy’s money on a PC game, and would bet most of them are guys like me who spend money on things they work for, for things they want, when they chill at home on a game. I think the best solution is to these two audiences to play different games. Broke dudes play a really grind based game, and guys who can spend some dough to play the pay for it games.

So I say quite clearly that I'm not dismissing what you are telling me but give you my honest thoughts on the situation and I'm a bigot? What does your honesty have to do with it? Of course you're being honest. I called you a bigot, not a liar. Let me change up the situation here and explain it through a lens I'm sure you'll be able to recognize. We have a guy here who was shown a YouTube video of a Ta-Nehisi Coates talking about World of Warcraft, and rather than respond to what the man in the video said, the guy says "man, look at that guy's black skin. I bet he can't hold down a job to save his life!" And then we all very patiently, if somewhat irritatedly, point out to that guy that it's actually a myth that black people are lazy, and that their higher rate of unemployment stems not from a poor work ethic, but from systematic racism in both the educational system and the employment market. And this guy responds "Come on, you can't look at Sambo there and believe that he's in any way as productive or as recently-employed as white people!" And then we all remind him that skin color isn't a proxy for employment status and that his impression of Ta-Nehisi Coates' paycheck-earning status is being colored by a pre-existing desire to believe oneself superior to black people. And then this guy says "well, ok, I take all those points - but I just can't look at that man and think of him as a productive, employed citizen!" At which point, what can we do but explain that when you have unsupportable prejudices against a class of person that you won't abandon - or even make the effort to abandon - when shown contradictory evidence, you're a bigot? And, great, now this guy is complaining that we used the "B-word" when all he was doing was "accepting our points" and giving his "honest opinion" of whether or not Ta-Nehisi Coates can hold a job? Come on. Put like that surely you can see how ridiculous you're being? Not to mention - if you had actually accepted the points when you said you did, you would not have gone on explaining how it was impossible to look at one of these fat fucking fattie-fats and think of them as healthy. Would you? How is it "accepting my point" if you then go on to reiterate your adamant position that all my points are wrong?
Do you realise that your verbal broadside very nearly blinded me to the factual information of your post? Oh, boo-fucking-hoo! I'm sorry that I endangered the project of getting you to abandon your moralizing prejudice by expecting you to act like a fucking adult about something. Certainly if I'd realized you needed to be hand-held like a child in order to be shown how to be a decent person, I would have written a very different post.

I doubt that many of those little pricks are using Mommy’s money on a PC game, Well, in the game I was referring to, that was exactly the case and everyone knew about it. I did not intend to make it sound as though it was that way for every game of this type.
it also sucks that there are kids, or guys who work less than you do who have and extra 20+ hours per week to devote to a game, and completely make it less fun because they got plenty of time to game and you do not. Well that, I would not disagree with and would take no issue with. But the game in particular rewarded people heftily for paying for items. The guy I played with (old roommate) had no job and grinded his ass off and was never top of the leaderboards because he couldn't buy his way there. I am sure other games are different, but for this particular game that I played (and enjoyed for a long time) that was the case.Mythology is what we call someone else’s religion. Joseph Campbell

Where the fuck did I make any comment about his employment? I called him a fat bastard.
But you stomp in with you cunt sized chip on your shoulder whining about me characterising his employment when I said nothing of the sort.
Would you? How is it "accepting my point" if you then go on to reiterate your adamant position that all my points are wrong? Where fucking hell did I reiterate my adamant position that all you points we're wrong? You provided some research that I read and said I've never seen that kind of thing before (with an obvious implication that new information modifies one's position) and that I was taking that on board. Can't you imagine someone not immediately switching a position they have held for years? Is it too much to expect for someone to take what you have said on board and go away to look into it? If I took your word for it that your source were better than mine I would be no better than a dumb creo. Get off you high horse, dude. To be a bigot one needs to not move their position based on new information. Where the fuck did I make any comment about his employment? I called him a fat bastard. Where did I claim that you did? I made an entirely fictitious analogy about a completely different guy in a completely different situation. How did you not understand that? Is the guy in the video a black man, Larni? Did he talk about World of Warcraft or the new Star Wars game? And is he, in fact, Atlantic.com blogger Ta-Nehisi Coates? Seriously, calm down and go back and read the post again. You've apparently understood less than 20% of it. This is the mental block I'm talking about, Larni - something is going on in your mind that prevents you from apprehending new information.

L50 Holy shit... did you get in on the beta, or something?
Trooper Vanguard My Tooper is a Commando, but I'm only, like, level 13 or so. I have a Jedi Knight that's 21, iirc. I like, with the Trooper, not having to run up on every enemy I'm gonna fight... standing back and going 'pew pew pew' has its advantages. What crew skills did you pick? I have Scavaging and Cybertech and they seem to work well together.
Much fun. Indeed. What server are you on?

You're right, it did not read it correctly.
Damn. But the analogy only works if obese people are just as healthy as non obese people and what you are telling me about fat/obese people contradicts what I have learnt in biology class and been told by my GP over the years. For instance: Page not available - PubMed Health Complications Obesity is a major health threat. The extra weight puts added stress on every part of your body. People with obesity are at risk for these health problems: Bone and joint problems -- extra weight puts strain on the bones and joints. This can lead toosteoarthritis, a disease that causes joint pain and stiffness. Gallstones and liver problems Heart attack from coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, and stroke High blood cholesterol and triglycerides (dislipidemia or high blood fats) High blood pressure (hypertension) High blood sugar (glucose) or diabetes Stopping breathing during sleep (sleep apnea). This can cause daytime fatigue or sleepiness, poor attention, and problems at work. You need to accept that you could be wrong about that guy being as healthy with as long a life as some one not obese. You calling me an asshole won't change that. Heh... watched the video (lunch time)... it was pretty funny.
But, yeah... the guy's just ranting at stuff that's not even real. I give him allowance for his anger about the online DRM issues... if you like that sort of thing, I can see that being a problem. To me, however, I'm really glad they put in an online-only requirement, it's just plain better for the way I play (legit, not too often, generally team up with folks I don't know at all). As for the RMAH (Real Money Auction House), I don't think he understands how it works. He talks about buying stuff from the RMAH and giving Blizzard cash... this isn't how it works. The cash is actually going to another player who put the auction up (apart from a small percentage cut that does go to Blizzard). I'm actually looking forward to the RMAH to see if I can make a bit of money myself after putting in so much time.
