Is this an expected result of global warming? Or, is this a naturally-occurring weather fluke?
The problem with global warming (or global climate change) is that it is a trend. It's impossible to say whether any particular phenomenon, such as a heat wave, or hurricane, is a result of global warming. All we can do is look at the trends. Are there more hurricanes now, are there more heat waves now, are average temperatures higher, lower or much the same than they have been in the past.
When you look at trends, you see global warming in action.
I'm in Wisconsin, and we're experiencing perhaps the mildest winter I remember. We've had only a couple inches of snow, the temps this week are melting the dusting of snow we currently have, and the Packers are in the playoffs with homefield advantage. Global Warming may remove the Lambeau Field advantage and stop the Packers from making the Super Bowl. Now if that's not a disaster caused by Global Warming, I don't know what is. ;-)
