In the U.S. the federal and State legislatures, if drafting a law as to what constitutes the crime of murder, will consult the scientific community in re the definition of human life.
It appears to me the the scientific community has not been consulted in drafting the various state legislature bills that have been submitted in the past year or two.
Where did you obtain your idea that "I would think the time of conception is when the sperm and egg have combined to form 46 human chromosomes that are implanted in the uterus and the human embyro is formed."? From a scientific paper or from somewhere else?

Disagreement
I think all agree that the intent of abortion is to eliminate a human life.
Many, including me, do not agree.
See Planned Parenthood
Well, they have a mission statement:
quote:
Planned Parenthood believes in the fundamental right of each individual, throughout the world, to manage his or her fertility, regardless of the individual's income, marital status, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, age, national origin, or residence. We believe that respect and value for diversity in all aspects of our organization are essential to our well-being. We believe that reproductive self-determination must be voluntary and preserve the individual's right to privacy. We further believe that such self-determination will contribute to an enhancement of the quality of life and strong family relationships.
Based on these beliefs, and reflecting the diverse communities within which we operate, the mission of Planned Parenthood is
to provide comprehensive reproductive and complementary health care services in settings which preserve and protect the essential privacy and rights of each individual
to advocate public policies which guarantee these rights and ensure access to such services
to provide educational programs which enhance understanding of individual and societal implications of human sexuality
to promote research and the advancement of technology in reproductive health care and encourage understanding of their inherent bioethical, behavioral, and social implications
Nothing there about eliminating any human lives.

Re: Disagreement
Is it Planned Parenthood's position that life begins at birth?
I don't know. I don't care. I don't think they take a position. You referred to Planned Parenthood as supporting your statement that "I think all agree that the intent of abortion is to eliminate a human life". They don't support that claim. They make no mention of eliminating any human lives.

Re: Disagreement
You don't think they will admit that do you?
Ah, the old secret agenda trick. You referred to them as an organization that supported your claim. They don't support your claim, whether or not they have a secret agenda. I.e. your claim that they intend to destroy human life is your unfounded opininion.
Do they abort viable fetuses in the womb knowing that if they are not destroyed they will be born as babies?
Isn't that eliminating a human life?
Not in my opinion, and not in the opinion of many others, and not in the rulings of our legal system.

Re: So what was the point of this thread?
I have stated in this thread that I believe the zygote is a human being and I cited the paper by Dr. Maureen L Condic for the scientific basis for this opinion.
And you have not responded to the criticisms of that paper.

Re: So what was the point of this thread?
If they would point where she is wrong in her science I would respond.
So, no questioning to see what they are getting at? Just ignore it?
Fact is, several people have pointed out exactly how her conclusions are not supported by her facts. I"m not going to bother to dig up the messages, because you obviously aren't interested in or capable of discussing trhe paper.
