You know it's funny you say that, I usually get that from my friends. It's the few times I agree with the Bible.
It warns about the abuse of it but sanctions moderate use of it in both the Ot and NT scriptures. King David had his wine cellars, Jesus, who was not a teetotaler himself, turned the water into wine at the wedding feast and the apostle Paul advised a little of it for health. Of course, unfortunately, most of our beers and wines have nitrites and sulfate's in them to speed up the process for profit.
Well I can't say I disagree, only that I'd add that Paul should have also warned of weight gain from the high sugar drinks.
Wifie and I drink organic non sulfate wines which have become more affordable in some of the city stores. I also drink a Rolling Rock beer in the bottle a day or every other day. I mix it with pure carrot juice and sometimes with our home processed wild grape and elderberry juice, etc so as to make a natural soda pop.
Sounds good, throw in some whey protein and some creatine monohydrate and you'd add some muscle and reduce fat. It can work two ways.

I miss the good old days. When I graduated from High School in 1977, I was making $2.75 an hour. two years later I landed a job that paid me $4.00 an hour...as a line cook.
If we were to take that 1980 $4.00 and extrapolate it through an inflation adjustment calculator, it would be roughly equal to the $17.00 an hour that I now make.
I dont know whats sadder...the fact that I make the same as I made out of High School, or the fact that the minimum wage is half what I make....which is a sad commentary on so many levels.

In mid 1970's My sister and I could go to the movie theater, watch a movie, eat tons of candy and popcorn with a dollar each. We still would have money left over. Theater tickets for the matinee where 35 cents. So today mantinee tickets in my area are around 8.00 That calculates to 44 percent so thats in keeping with your figures.
George Lucas predicts movie tickets will go up to 50.00 someday.

According to an article in the local paper, it is becoming more difficult for younger folk to find 'good' work. Not because there isn't work to be done, but because decreasing retirement/pension plan opportunities are forcing older workers to stay at their jobs longer. In the past they would have retired comfortably in their fifties; many now work well into their sixties.
Imagine spending the last sixteen to twenties years of your life in school only to have to wait ten more years for a suitable job to open up, and being forced into minimum wage crap labor that is insufficient for starting or raising a family regardless of how many hours you work.

I feel your pain, but we all need to work together to address these problems. Imagine being near retirement age and being unable to retire! Both old and young have problems....and it would be unwise for us to fight each other. Perhaps if health care costs were taken care of, more old folks could afford to retire.
