Copying what passes for you as sentence structure is painful. Please retake a remedial English course. Asking you to make well-reasoned posts would be too much. when grammar nazi attacks its because he has no other substance to attack other than youre badd internetz langwage. LOL sad as always.
Edited by AdminPhat, : off topic...rule 10. please adjust course.

when grammar nazi attacks its because he has no other substance to attack other than youre badd internetz langwage. That's funny, because you ignored the remainder of my post and focused only on the offhand comment. Do you actually have a response for the fact that discussing Biblical support for slavery is not the same as claiming that Christianity is responsible for all slavery? But again...we get admittedly entertaining graphics instead of substance in a post from Artemis. You don't discuss, you troll for lulz. Why are you here, and not on 4chan?
(prediction - Artemis will again not respond to the actual relevant discussion, but will instead focus on the offhand commentary) Edited by AdminPhat, : off topic...do not continueThe human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it. - Francis Bacon "There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers

The sincerely held beliefs of other members deserve your respect. Please keep discussion civil. Argue the position, not the person.
Lets return to the topic, gentlemen.

No, they don't. If those beliefs are worthless nonsense, they should be treated as worthless nonsense. We need to respect the other members. And we need to respect their right to hold whatever beliefs they want, even if those beliefs are nonsense. But we do not need to respect those beliefs. (Sorry for the interruption. And, yes, I know we are not supposed to respond to Admin messages. But this one demanded a response.)Jesus was a liberal hippie

Do you actually have a response for the fact that discussing Biblical support for slavery is not the same as claiming that Christianity is responsible for all slavery? Yeah well let me see what I can find about what Jesus said about slavery...
But again...we get admittedly entertaining graphics instead of substance in a post from Artemis. LOL bech pleeze. I am a product of my environment, and this is that environment. NOBODY is about substance! The Scientists are here to troll and tease the creationists The Liberals are here to make fun of conservatives and some of us are just here to make fun of everyone. Substance...here!?! that is the funniest post of the week. Thumbs up. LOL It would never matter what i stated, I will always get negatives, and people will always be a bunch of dicks. "if you can't beat then join em" and I R a dik too.
Why are you here, and not on 4chan? what the fuck is 4chan? sounds nerdy. you probably have to be real nerdy to know that stuff.

Taz writes: Poe's Law comes to mind. I sometimes honestly can't tell if these people are serious or parodying.Added by edit. You don't have to go far to see examples of this. Our very own buz continues to insist that the whities were doing the blackies a favor by kidnapping them from Africa, cramp them onto overcrowded ships, dumping half of them into the sea on their way to North America, and sell them off into American slave markets. Why? Because at least they were introduced to christ. Don't believe me? Just ask buz himself. Yah, good advice, Taz Man. At least if you get it from the horse's mouth you get my position on slavery as I stated it. Had you copied and pasted what I said to the folks rather than attack me personally, you'd have cited the truth about my position rather than Poe's Law.

And this part of your quote would be you agreeing with Taz's claim. Slaves in America often fared better then their relatives back in pagan jungles. Slaves in Christian oriented America on the whole, fare better than slaves in pagan nations historically. Were you not intending to prove Taz wrong? If I were you And I wish that I were you All the things I'd do To make myself turn blue

Panda, you need to read all of what I said.Note that I said, "...........fare better than slaves in pagan nations." Now note carefully, Taz's allegations.

My education has been a while ago, but if I remember correctly, they did dispose of ill slaves. And considering the inhuman conditions of the ship, many did become ill. According to wikipedia, which I trust on this matter, usually 15% of slaves died on average on such a ship, and up to one third.

Buzsaw writes: I did read all of what you said. Panda, you need to read all of what I said.Note that I said, "...........fare better than slaves in pagan nations." You also said: "Slaves in America often fared better then their relatives back in pagan jungles." Thus you proved Taz correct. (And what the hell is a 'pagan jungle'?!) Buzsaw writes: That is unconnected to Taz's claim regarding your opinions on how 'good' slaves had it.
Whites, for the most part did not kidnap from blacks. Blacks sold or traded them to white slave traders. Whites certainly would not risk penetrating the jungles of Aftrica to gather slaves. Buzsaw writes: Yes they were. No cargo of value, including slaves would be dumped at sea. There is even a infamous occurrence: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zong_Massacre. Buzsaw writes: And such would not be a real sentence. Such would certainly not be logically common. If I were you And I wish that I were you All the things I'd do To make myself turn blue

Supposedly slavers also dumped all their slaves in the sea if they feared getting caught by the British or American navy.

That's pretty disheartening to see. I believe an important concept for all Christians to recognize is the idea of Present Truth. Biblically, the views expressed in scripture are relative to the times they were written in, I.E., slavery was a common practice in much of scripture, therefore the writers in scripture did not think much of it.
In the same way, as a culture and as a world (for the most part) the "modern" world recognizes that the concept of owning another human being is unethical and inhumane. Present Truth would encourage us to embrace that enlightenment, rather than use examples from a book written during a completely different time and culture(s) to justify. Regardless of whether or not there is a commandment which says "thou shalt not have a slave," slavery has been shown to be wrong as enlightenment increases. Anything less would be blindly following scripture, having no concept of the ethical and moral responsibilities we are also called to, and in reality, mean much more in this life than the "do's" and "don'ts." Regards yall! - Raph
