Copying what passes for you as sentence structure is painful. Please retake a remedial English course.
Asking you to make well-reasoned posts would be too much.

That's funny, because you ignored the remainder of my post and focused only on the offhand comment.
Do you actually have a response for the fact that discussing Biblical support for slavery is not the same as claiming that Christianity is responsible for all slavery?
But again...we get admittedly entertaining graphics instead of substance in a post from Artemis. You don't discuss, you troll for lulz. Why are you here, and not on 4chan?

The human understanding when it has once adopted an opinion (either as being the received opinion or as being agreeable to itself) draws all things else to support and agree with it.
- Francis Bacon
"There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs." - John Rogers

No, they don't.
If those beliefs are worthless nonsense, they should be treated as worthless nonsense.
We need to respect the other members. And we need to respect their right to hold whatever beliefs they want, even if those beliefs are nonsense.
But we do not need to respect those beliefs.

Yeah well let me see what I can find about what Jesus said about slavery...
But again...we get admittedly entertaining graphics instead of substance in a post from Artemis.

What Buz Said
Taz writes:
Poe's Law comes to mind. I sometimes honestly can't tell if these people are serious or parodying.
Added by edit.
You don't have to go far to see examples of this. Our very own buz continues to insist that the whities were doing the blackies a favor by kidnapping them from Africa, cramp them onto overcrowded ships, dumping half of them into the sea on their way to North America, and sell them off into American slave markets. Why? Because at least they were introduced to christ.
Don't believe me? Just ask buz himself.
Yah, good advice, Taz Man. At least if you get it from the horse's mouth you get my position on slavery as I stated it.
Had you copied and pasted what I said to the folks rather than attack me personally, you'd have cited the truth about my position rather than Poe's Law.

I don't support human slavery. I report that it was sanctioned in the OT, nor did Jesus or the apostles condemn it, nor did they express support for it. It was a part of all human cultures on the planet at one time or other. That doesn't mean that I support it. I don't know where you got that notion, Anglagard.

Oh, and btw, all nations at one time or other have practiced slavery. Slaves in America often fared better then their relatives back in pagan jungles. Slaves in Christian oriented America on the whole, fare better than slaves in pagan nations historically.
Lastly, don't forget all of the REPUBLICAN white blood that was shed emancipating the slaves.

Panda, you need to read all of what I said.
Note that I said, "...........fare better than slaves in pagan nations."
Now note carefully, Taz's allegations.

Whites, for the most part did not kidnap from blacks. Blacks sold or traded them to white slave traders. Whites certainly would not risk penetrating the jungles of Aftrica to gather slaves.
No cargo of value, including slaves would be dumped at sea. Such would certainly not be logically common.

Re: What Buz Said
My education has been a while ago, but if I remember correctly, they did dispose of ill slaves. And considering the inhuman conditions of the ship, many did become ill. According to wikipedia, which I trust on this matter, usually 15% of slaves died on average on such a ship, and up to one third.

I did read all of what you said.
You also said: "Slaves in America often fared better then their relatives back in pagan jungles."
Thus you proved Taz correct. (And what the hell is a 'pagan jungle'?!)
Buzsaw writes:

That is unconnected to Taz's claim regarding your opinions on how 'good' slaves had it.
Buzsaw writes:

Yes they were.
There is even a infamous occurrence: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zong_Massacre.
Buzsaw writes:
Such would certainly not be logically common.

Re: What Buz Said
Supposedly slavers also dumped all their slaves in the sea if they feared getting caught by the British or American navy.

Genocide: Christian Excuses
It never ceases to amaze me how low people will sink to defend the bible, particularly on the subject of genocide:

Scary. These people are slaves to their beliefs, biases and ignorance it seems.

Present Truth
That's pretty disheartening to see. I believe an important concept for all Christians to recognize is the idea of Present Truth. Biblically, the views expressed in scripture are relative to the times they were written in, I.E., slavery was a common practice in much of scripture, therefore the writers in scripture did not think much of it.
In the same way, as a culture and as a world (for the most part) the "modern" world recognizes that the concept of owning another human being is unethical and inhumane. Present Truth would encourage us to embrace that enlightenment, rather than use examples from a book written during a completely different time and culture(s) to justify.
Regardless of whether or not there is a commandment which says "thou shalt not have a slave," slavery has been shown to be wrong as enlightenment increases. Anything less would be blindly following scripture, having no concept of the ethical and moral responsibilities we are also called to, and in reality, mean much more in this life than the "do's" and "don'ts."
Regards yall!
