quote:When I make my argument I present the meaning of words or the basis for my opinion. It's difficult to make the point before I express my opinion or have an argument to make. Actually I've presented my opinion of omnipotent long before now. Message 277 My responses depend on my opponent. When they provide nothing to build on, I'm left with doing my best to try and move the discussion forward concerning the topic and hope they will do the same. Unless an omnipotent parent has the ability to change a persons attitude and behavior without the usual methods of reward or punishment, they aren't necessarily going to be any more successful in causing change in a person. In the Bible, God has used punishment and the promise of reward; but people still manage to be wicked. God doesn't change the wicked. They have to change themselves. IOW, they have to want to change. In my experience, the change doesn't always stick if the person isn't really on board.

And I am sure that you think that is relevant to something.
Oh stop. Any all-powerful being has the power to control, at the very least, its own actions. Jon writes:
And there is no logic at all in there being a god - go figure.
And there is no logic in construing omnipotence as also being control over the actions of others. Jon writes:
I am going to call 'Bullshit' on your clearly false assertion.
Absolutely no Christian whatsoever takes it to mean that. Jon writes:
And since googling the phrase "superbly omnipotent God" returns no results, it would actually seem to only be popular with you.
Besides, few Christians even take to the notion of an superbly omnipotent God; the idea seems, ironically, more popular with Atheists. Jon writes:
Oh don't be stupid. There are no "powers and restrictions" applicable to the role of being a father. This thread is about the Christian God, in particular the characterizing of him as a father with all the powers and restrictions such a role entails.Any powers and restrictions are due to the 'species' of the father. Your laughable implication that a 'deity' father has the same powers and restrictions as a 'human' father is blatantly false. Panda, I would like to remind you that this is a Faith & Belief topic.
The goal here is understanding through discussion. Evidence is not required, nor is winning the argument the goal. Please refrain from trying to frame the argument for the mere sake of winning it....if you have any faith and belief in support of it, please make your point. If you are simply against the concept of faith and belief, you have no purpose participating.

quote:No wrong has been committed against you. Nothing harmful has happened to you. There's nothing to be culpable for. I already responded to Rahvin and I've already provided the rationale for my opinion concerning omnipotence.
quote: Panda writes:
I provided evidence that I didn't just decide the meaning of the word omnipotent just to win this argument. As far as our discussion goes, I hadn't made any claims concerning omnipotence before I provided the rationale for my opinion. I'm not sure why you feel I should have provided a definition when I asked you for more information. Not usually how discussions progress. The ball was in your court. There is no point discussing anything with you because you don't decide the meaning of words until you need to win the argument and then you find an obscure meaning so that your previous claims don't look wrong. The discussion really hadn't progressed into an argument yet. You hadn't provided any rationale or support for your statements, so there wasn't really anything to "win". I was trying to move the discussion forward. If you disagreed with my position, all you had to do was counter. So far you keep avoiding the actual topic part of my posts. Unlimited power or authority. How does any of that say that the being can do anything that we can imagine?

I have not asked for evidence and the only time I mentioned 'winning the argument' is when I was criticising PD 'gotcha' technique.

It was PurpleDawn who was framing the argument for the mere sake of winning.

This makes little sense to me - but whatever. if you have any faith and belief in support of it, please make your point. My Father elohim is nice enough for unruin, but he doesn't care to take alot of shit and back talk from man or "Beast" out of sympathy for the devil he allows the son to act on his behalf the son has taken it upon himself to be nicer in order to meet the requirements of the die test and to allow for the potential save of Lucifer A deal is a deal Ji (the spirit) is nicer still for his own reasons but can not stand phallus hate or bestial blasphemy the spirit, the father, the son
true religion is to show love and respect for your friendsbut men try to manipulate each other with it and the devils are just as interested in corrupting the spirit of religion The ringing of the division bell has begun!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mMyTHG-mPuY KEEP TALKING!
Creation or Evolution think what is the meaning of this? There are things you don't understand about God,The die test and God's Love or ability to stand the devils. Edited by AdminModulous, : more nonsense hidden.

Please stop vomiting your drivel in this thread.
Ridicule is the only weapon which can be used against unintelligible propositions. -- Thomas Jefferson We see monsters where science shows us windmills. -- Phat It has always struck me as odd that fundies devote so much time and effort into trying to find a naturalistic explanation for their mythical flood, while looking for magical explanations for things that actually happened. -- Dr. Adequate Howling about evidence is a conversation stopper, and it never stops to think if the claim could possibly be true -- foreveryoung

GOD the almighty jesus CHRIST the ONE and ONLY FATHER ELOHIM does not talk to men because they are not worth his time, for the most part they would either douch him off, spite him, spit in his face, or try to crawl his leg and hold the ding-dong if some devil out of hell has the nerve to call him a cocksucker
thankfully for all the lowly criers the son has agreed to satisfy the rules of Lucifer's Die test while men cry woe is me!

I suspect that EvCForum is not going to satisfy your needs. I suggest you keep looking for an e-home. If you really really want to stay, you can email one of the Administrators here to plead your case, but I don't think we have anything to offer you here.
