Yeah Right
Well, I'm not jar, so will likely by a few tickets in the off chance, despite the odds against.
First, I would become invisible. Then I would set the wife up in the Holy Land as per her greatest wish (Iowa), and ship the kid off to MIT, book the first available Cunard ship to the rest of the world (naturally, wife and kid invited) and figure out the best place to live, set up interest bearing accounts everywhere. Donate to worthy colleges and a few websites (this one and Triple A come to mind), set up enough in investment income to be self-sustaining, hire a few trusted accomplices to do the mundane work (like accounting, or creating life in my secret laboratory) then devote my time to redin', writin', and cypherin', well that, and some unabashed Epicurean living. (hopefully within Aristotelian ideals of moderation).
Hire Phat as my personal concierge for 6 figures (just to make him less 'whiny'), get Jon high speed internet access, make an annual pilgrimage to Mission, TX, donate enough to Moose for an animal shelter, and buy Omni a case of Laphroiag.

A question for evc readers....what would you do with $540 million dollars?
It won't happen, because I don't by lottery tickets.
Supposing it did happen - I would probably put the money in the bank, and go on living my life the same way as I do now. Well, okay, maybe I would hire an accountant to deal with some of the problems, such as the tax returns.

First things first...
My first problem would be a quandary over whether, as the only actual employee my company has, it would be ethical to simply refuse to turn up to work on Monday. I'd probably have to give my boss a non-negotiable deadline, so she wouldn't dither about hiring a replacement for me to train. I would find myself wishing I worked for a big, faceless corporation where I'd feel far less guilt in just fucking off the instant my win was confirmed.
Edited by caffeine, : No reason given.

Guy calls home to his wife, "Honey, pack your bags, I won the lottery!"
Wife, excited, "Should I pack for warm weather or cool?"
Guy, "I don't give a shit, just be gone before I get home!"

Re: First things first...
Your concern brings up a quandary I would have. My wife is a partner in a small town medical practice. Her leaving immediately would be a huge burden for the other docs in her practice(the five of them cover the ER 24/7, 365 days a year) so we would have to consider other options. Her agreement is that she is required to give a 6 month notice or be penalized $1000/day. I guess $180,000 wouldn't be a huge issue if we had $100+ million, but there is an ethical quandary. I guess she would continue until we could arrange a replacement or offer to pay partial costs of a locum tenens for the 6 months.
As for what to do with the money. First of all it gets split in 1/2 with my best friend of 30+ years. I think the first thing he would do is give his wife half and get divorced. After 3 marriages he may realize he is not the marrying type.
Then with our half my wife and I would split the ticket with our 5 siblings and 4 or 5 close friends and other relatives. I envision we would give them 2-5 million each. No fun having money if the people I like and like me(not many of them) don't have any.
We would then build a modest(modest for a multimillionaire) home on my wife's family property in rural northern Wisconsin. This is a place with dirt roads, poor cell coverage, wells and septic tanks. Then buy up all her grandfathers old farm land that was sold off 25-20 years ago. Probably about 700-800 acres total.
Next would be the winter getaway in the Caribbean. Probably Puerto Rico as that is where my father is from.
Lions share of the money will then be invested so we can live off of interest. May start or buy a business or two. Nothing that will require me to have day to day control.
Finally I would take a chunk and set up a family trust. The purpose of this is twofold. First it will be a vehicle to make charitable contributions now and going forward. Secondly, it will be a means to take care of the next and future generations of the family. When it is time for college or tech school the family trust can pay for or assist. The trust can help with mortgages and other large purchases. The trust will allow for the following generations to get a leg up but not a life of leisure.

Just bought in $5.
At the rate these things are being sold, any winners will likely have to share.

The prize has jumped to $640 million, in just one day, and it continues to rise as more and more people are buying them.
A colleague of mine has said that he heard all possible combinations have been sold at least once, meaning someone or some few are going to win tonight.
I wish those winners luck (I doubt I'll be one).

Cocaine and whores.
On the other hand...
It might be a good idea to put some in a savings account and never work again and just troll these forums all day long...
Then again...
Probably would be travelling a lot, finally do some sports so I lose some weight and win the Tour de France when I'm 45 because my money can buy the best doping around.

Dream Over
Well they had a winner back east. I only can hope that this person deserved the money and was not already rich.

They're always already rich. Always some jerkoff making $250k/year who decided to buy a ticket on his way home from work the night of the drawing.
Anyone here win anything?

HUH?
Why would anyone "deserves" the money beyond holding a winning ticket?

Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

I think what Phat might have meant is someone who 'needs' the money...
