When I was in Vanuatu (a Melanesian Pacific Island), I found out that boys were circumcised around the ages of 10-12 years old during their manhood/initiation rites. During their recovery they stayed in 'sacred huts' for a week or so. Not sure about the 'surgical' procedure they are using today, but the boys WERE cut, without anesthesia, using broken/sharpened seashells a fact that makes me, . . . ummm, . . . 'recoil' . . . in terror to this day!Anyways, . . . the women seemed to be horny little islanders. They were surprisingly outspoken FOR the ritual. They said they prefer the taste.

From what I understand, female circumcision is done to remove the pleasure aspect of sex from the women to inhibit her from having pre-marital sex so she can marry as a virgin, and to inhibit her from wanting to cheat on her future husband.For THESE reasons, do you still believe there is a credible comparable parallel to a man being circumcised?

No, I am sorry, I meant for what other reasons is female circumcision done. I mentioned the virgin and cheating reasons. Any others? Yes, seriously, it is sometimes beyond horrifying. Did you catch the Nat Geo magazine article about Afghan child brides. About six months, one year ago? There are graphic photos. It made me want to cry.

I dare say, this single justification trumps ALL other concerns.
