Re: Maybe another way to look at it
Do we have a right to sex without risk? It would be nice, but it's not a reality. So if we don't have a right to sex without risk, then fixing that risk when it happens is not a right either.
This whole thread orbits this point. But that fluff holds no water. You haven`t been able to support your point. People have the right to do whatever they want, unless there is some over-riding reason. Instead of asking us why sex+abortion is a right, you should be presenting us some over-riding reason why they might not be a right. You have not done that.

for example.. you drive into in your car, an inquest shows that although unintentional, you are at fault. I now depend on your insurance or your money to pay for my life saving hospital operation.
But still one could not be forced to donate a kidny to save the other. Besides, and more importantly for the case of the womb renter, the fetus would have to have personhood status which is, off couse, an essential part of the discussion...

Re: Giving up your right
just like if I started riding motorcycles, I increase my risk. I know this, and I have no one to really complain too if I get into an accident, and it is completely my fault, and I was just driving around for fun. I don't really have a right to be healthy again, I have the privilage based on how good the medical treatment is for my injuries.
This is, hands down, one of the (how should I say that politely?) dumbest thing I ever heard coming out of your mouth, rR.

Bored
Man, this thread turned out to be one of the most boring I have followed.
It goes like this...
rR: Show me how abortion is a right
Schraft/Frog: It is a right just as ABC is a right (Half analogies ooze all over my computer)
rR: I don`t think those are right rights either. Rights for me are things like DEF. ABC are privileges (What the hell is that supposed to mean?)
Scraft?Frog: ABC are rights just like GHI are rights
rR: GHI are privileges too.
Would anybody care to actually define their terms???

Re: Bored
Thank you for given a clear and well thought out exposition of what you understand to be a right (finally). I think it is clear now that the source of disagreement is simply a difference of understanding on what should qualify to be a right due to different definitions of what a right is. Even more boring then I first thought. Y`all are not talking about the same thing. You are just talking past each other.
