How would a Marxist Communist erh.. Canadian like yourself pronounce Fryd?

I'd pronounce it "Frid" (rhymes with "did"). "Fred" rhymes with "dead".

I think of Anni-Frid Lyngstad of ABBA, also known as Frida. A friend of mine has a wife named Freda and my father had a cousin named Frieda.

I also think of the other ABBA-chick, Agnetha Faltskog. As a name, I like Agnetha better than its English equivalent, Agnes.

Quick link
Thought this was apt, particularly given that Stewart Francis is Canadian
