Re: Calling all survivors
I found the belief Statement. IIRC, you have never claimed atheism and preferred Deism ala Spinoza, If I remember correctly. Have your battles and journies with loved ones and battling cancer caused you to re-examine your beliefs in any way? If so, it would be nic to share a bit. If not, it's ok... you are honest and true to your world view. And I'm proud to know you.

Re: Calling all survivors
I'm glad it is going well for you RAZD. It has for me as well. My surgeon in Vancouver found a small return of the cancer in my sinuses last spring, which the MRI didn't pick up, and so I went back for a quick 20 minute surgery and had it removed which went well. He had thought he found another spot but it turned out to be benign.
It is all going really well. I don't seem to miss the bit of the brain they removed, (guess I wasn't using it anyway ), and I am dealing fine without any cartilage left in my sinuses except for the little bit at the tip of my nose.
They keep checking up on me and I see my oncologist again this afternoon and I see my surgeon over in Vancouver every 6 months or so.
I hope that you enjoy your trip through Canada. I drove back out to Alberta during the summer through Jasper and it is sure a beautiful part of the world. My home town is Medicine Hat and as beautiful as it is here in Victoria I still feel more at home in big sky country in southern Alberta than anywhere else in the world.

He has told you, O man, what is good ; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God.

Wonderful news.
I hope that you enjoy your trip through Canada. I drove back out to Alberta during the summer through Jasper and it is sure a beautiful part of the world. My home town is Medicine Hat and as beautiful as it is here in Victoria ...
We lived in Cadboro Bay for a (too) few years and loved the area and all the available hiking trails.
... I still feel more at home in big sky country ...
For me it has to be coastal, and rocky preferred to floodplain flats. It the salt smell in the air.
I'll wave (waft?) in your general direction when we stop in Vancouver.

Speaking of survivors (and subtitles )
I notice that you are posting a lot more recently! I can only hope that this is good news and that your remission continues and that your strength is returning.
Your old cars patiently await refurbishment while you regain your strength.

RAZD
I have some bad news...my brother, RAZD, was taken to the hospital with bleeding in his brain. They were planning on operating but have now decided it's too complicated. They now plan on putting him in a hospice, presumably near Warren, RI.
I will keep you all advised as I learn more.

Re: RAZD
I very much enjoyed here RAZD's perspective. As a fellow cancer survivor I know it can be beaten. God bless
AbE I really hope he enjoyed the trip to Canada last year.

Re: RAZD
Really sorry to hear about RAZD - I have been dipping in and out of EvC and only just opened this thread.
You have all of my best wishes and thoughts, and hopes for peace and comfort. RAZD has taught me a lot, and I consider it a privilege to know him, even remotely, through the internet.

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

A loving god my arse ...
G’luck Chuck, we’re all going to miss your patient, detailed and scholarly analysis and argument.
For once the throw away platitude is true, our thoughts are with you and I’m pretty sure that the deluded and misguided here will be including you in their prayers too. You have respect here from both sides of the unending argument.

Re: RAZD
He did not make it. Last night.
We will make some kind of plans later, but he will be or has been cremated.
Pattie got to be with him all day yesterday in the hospital, but he was unresponsive and didn't squeeze back her hand.
