Yet another Congressman who doesn't accept the theory of evolution

I have to wonder if the guy actually believes this or if he is just appealing to the majority of voters. The fact that this sort of nonsense appeals to the majority of voters is depressing. I find it hard to believe that these people actually believe this stuff. I know plenty of rational people who all of a sudden become irrational when it comes to god and religion. How do they keep the rationality of the rest of their lives from washing away the irrationality of their religious beliefs?Penn Jillett has a great rant on the subject.

A sad state of affairs really. Which is worse? That he actually believes these myths to be true or that he is lying about believing it. Sort of a lose-lose situation. It sure is odd. I guess in the bible belt they hope that they are scientists who believe in talking snakes.
