Why isn't Obama calling Romney a liar?
A black man calling a rich white man a liar. In a racist country like this, it would be political suicide.
I just do not understand why the lying isn't abundantly obvious to everyone.
I am quite sure that it is obvious to everyone, with the exception of the racists who consider anyone opposing Obama to be a great hero.

Re: Why isn't Obama calling Romney a liar?
You underestimate the stupidity and ignorance of a lot of people. Not only do people actually think he's a Muslim, they also think that it matters. I've had discussions with people like this. They really do believe it.
Yeah people forget that country folk and those in rural areas have those very beliefs. I've spoken to plenty of people like that after shows, because they buy me beers and give me drugs, but then go on a rant about Obama and Islam, and the take over of our nation, and even those who kinda entertain the belief that he's the anti-christ, etc. Great people to talk to, not gonna lie. It fascinates me when people are that out-there and truy believe it.

I guess that depends on what you consider "rural". I live in a small town, but not rural IMO (maybe rural to big city folks like you lol): it's a tourist trap for rich white people. I know a number of people personally that have these beliefs. Hell, I'm even related to a couple of them.

You think it would be political suicide in the swing states? It's the only place is relevant is with the swing states. I think it may actually help him being up front about Romney's lies.

Re: Why isn't Obama calling Romney a liar?
Yeah a small town I'd call rural, but it also depend too. What state it's in mostly. A small town in California might be wine country where ex-professors live out their life long dreams of making wine. But a small town in Alabama might be a place to never ever drive into, through or over if you're last name is hispanic or your skin too dark. Places where Aziz Ansari is the same as Osama Bin Laden.
Hell, I'm even related to a couple of them.
I come from a cuban family, I know all too well what it's like to be around Romney supporters. It's never a rational choice for them to support Romney, it's always about some crazy FoxNews story that they believe.

Ethic charges against Romney
I am not sure what to make of this
UAW FILES CHARGES AGAINST ROMNEY ON HIS AUTO BAIL-OUT PROFITEERING
but it might cause that Etch-a-Sketch to be shaken up a bit more than Romney had intended.

I had a conversation with a very pleasant woman that works in our Accounts Payable yesterday. She seriously suspects that our President could really be the Antichrist. And she seems perfectly rational about most things. She was completely astonished that I was voting for Mr Obama.

It's in the Bag
New analyses show Obama with a significant electoral lead.

Well, the kicker will be if the Redskins beat the Panthers this Sunday.
But, yes, all other signs are pointing that way as well

The Redskins game may not be do decisive. Even if the Redskins lose, Obama will likely win the electoral college vote.
quote:
As the guy credited with discovering the theory, Steve Hirdt, points out, if you make the rule refer not to the party in power, but to the party that won the popular vote in the previous election, it suddenly has a perfect 18-for-18 record predating World War II.

Under a government which imprisons any unjustly, the true place for a just man is also in prison. Thoreau: Civil Disobedience (1846)
The apathy of the people is enough to make every statue leap from its pedestal and hasten the resurrection of the dead. William Lloyd Garrison.
If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. Frederick Douglass

Time for predictions!

I agree. I'm unwilling to predict much else, except the GOP will hold the House and Democrats will hold the Senate.
I'm less sure of these : Popular vote winner? Margins of victory? The likelihood of SCOTUS intervention in the democratic process? How many days between a Romney win and the invasion of Iran?
So...a few days from Election Day, what are folks willing to predict about it?

Re: Time for predictions!
Obama is re-elected, the Senate stays w/ the Democrats, and the House remains in Republican control - but, Boehner retains some key folks & is shed of a few tea-baggers. West, King, Walsh will most likely lose; Bachmann will hang on by the hairs of her chinny-chin chin, and a few vocal Democrats will gain seats - Grayson will be a great get.
Conservatives run amok & heads explode while trying to appear in control. I fear a true split among factions of the RNC, but what will happen won't be as bad as a permanent severing of the religious core of the Republican Party.
Reid will push for a true majority vote in the Senate & the filibuster will be forever changed.
Until 2020. :-)

The noises from the right will go something like this: "For the second time in a row, the public has freely chosen a candidate who we keep describing as a "socialist", a "Marxist" and "the most liberal President in American history". To lure them back, obviously what we need is a candidate to the right of Genghis Khan, as that's clearly the sort of thing that appeals to them. Bachmann/Clone-Of-Hitler 2016!"

Well, as Wiki points out:
quote:
The rule does not make any statement about whether any particular reference or comparison to Adolf Hitler or the Nazis might be appropriate, but only asserts that the likelihood of such a reference or comparison arising increases as the discussion progresses...
Conservatives responded to the disaster of Bush's neo-con owned presidency by claiming he was no true conservative--and moving sharply to the right.
I think Dr A is correct: the GOP will move sharply rightward, again.
And if you move right long enough, you find yourself following a man with a bad haircut, screaming for bloody solutions.
