Do the left thing
I'm in Illinois, which will go for Obama anyway. I'll be voting in the morning. Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

Coyote writes:Don't play coy. The "right thing" was understood from the beginning as reelecting Obama.
If Romney were taking positions to the left of Obama, I would still be supporting Obama. In my judgment, Romney suffers from serious character flaws, serioius enough to make him unfit to serve as president. I'm not a mind reader, but I suspect that those perceived character flaws, rather than left/right politics, are what motivated the OP for this thread. Re: On the election...
What I prefer might be best referred to as rational libertarianism, perhaps a very minor choice now-a-days.
"Rational libertarianism" - surely that's an oxymoron. Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

Re: Bubbles
He almost persuades me that the Southern Strategy has gasped its last breath somewhere in a Fox News studio.
If the Republican party were run by rational people, then that would be correct. My prediction - the Republicans will try to purge more RINOs and double down on stupidity. And they will be encouraged in doing this by the great echo machine of FAUX NOISE. There are some smart Republicans who are trying to push the party to a more moderate line. But they have lost control of the party to the crazies. I hope I'm wrong. Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

Re: Where's Buz?
I have been here a relatively short time compared to most of you, but I can name a number of creationist posters I'd rather see return before Buz.
I am suspecting that crash was concerned about buz's health. He is one of our older member (I'm talking age here), and has not been heard from for approaching 3 months. Well, at least I have that concern. I am only guessing about crash. Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

Re: Some post election debriefing
Reed and Pinkerton were in absolute denial mode about the election.
That's what I am seeing at several places. The most outspoken Republicans seem to know exactly what they must do: - they must purge the party of RINOs;
- they must never again nominate someone who has been a moderate governor;
- they must double down on the crazy.
Obviously the wording of the last of those is not what they would use. I'm thinking that onifre must be cheering all the way to the stand up comic circuit. Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

Re: Facing Up to the Enormity of Our Problem
It isn't the problem the world faces; it is the problem philosophical conservatives face.
The problem that philosophical conservatives face, is that the world does not work the way that they think it works.
The article is talking about the type of life conservatives enjoy living is rapidly going away and the chances of it ever coming back are slim.
Quite so. However, the type of life that conservatives enjoy living has never existed, except in their over-inventive imaginations. Fundamentalism - the anti-American, anti-Christian branch of American Christianity

The political right is dangerously out of touch with reality
Summary: we did the right thing. Recommended reading: Mandate with Destiny (The New Yorker) In short, the right declared that Bush won a decisive mandate in 2004. However, they say that Obama, who won far more convincingly in 2012, has no mandate at all. The political right in the USA is dangerously out of touch with reality.
