Re: Another claim goes "poof"
Meanwhile anything that contradicts the Bible has to go.
Uh, the Bible contradicts the Bible...
Yes the early geologists were "Christian" creationists, but their notions in those days were absurdly unbiblical so how Christian were they really?
Well, considering that Christians are supposed to follow Christ we can see that you don't really have to follow 100% everything in the Bible.
Sorry, the Bible is the foundation. The facts do have to conform to it,
You should change your description to a "Biblian", or something, to reflect the fact that you follow a book over Christ.

Re: Another claim goes "poof"
Christ wrote the Book. To follow it is to follow Him.
No, Jesus is not a book. He was a man. And the books in the Bible were written long after he died.

Re: Another claim goes "poof"
Under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Christ.
So when the Holy Spirit was inspiring the ancient Jewish authors, did they know that the error they were writing were wrong or were they being tricked into thinking they were correct?

Re: It's God's own word
Peter says the Old Testament writers knew they were writing to a future generation about salvation through the Messiah to come:
So when they were compliling the laws in Leviticus they knew that they were writing them for you? Do you really follow those laws?
And when Paul, who according to you was inspired by Jesus himself, told Timoty that women should be quiet and not teach men, he knew that he was writing that for you? So then, why do you, a women, presume to teach me, a man?
Jesus, himself, through the inspiration of Paul's words proves that I am right and you are wrong. You have no authority to teach me, according to your own faith. And yet, here you are.
So which is it? Is your faith wrong or do you just not follow it?

Re: It's God's own word
About the Levitical laws, that's all part of the Books of Moses and Moses was definitely one of the prophets Peter was writing about who knew what God was doing in his time pointed forward to the Messiah.
Gawsh, those poor Levites! To think that God was tricking them into thinking they actually had these laws to follow when really it was all a big ploy to lead up to the Messiah. Don't you think it was kinda mean for God to mislead them like that?
You've turned God into Loki. I suppose you already know the penalty for blaspheming the Holy Spirit...

Re: Jesus "wrote" the Bible
Jesus is the Logos, the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God. But I'm not even talking about that, I'm saying that the Bible was inspired by the Holy Spirit who is also called the Spirit of Christ. "Holy men of God were moved by the Spirit" is the New Testament way of describing how scripture was written.
Jesus died, resurrected and ascended, He's living today. He inspired the writing of the New Testament by men through the Holy Spirit just as He did the Old.
Given that: Jesus then, as the Holy Spirit, lead the ancient Jews into believing a bunch of wrong stuff and then came back to them in the flesh to tell them a lot of that stuff that he just inspired them to believe was wrong. Again, you're turning Jesus and God into pranksters.
And regarding Sola Scriptura:
quote:
2 Thessalonians 2
(KJV)
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
and
quote:
2 Timothy 2
(KJV)
1 Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
The Bible, itself, confirms that there are sources of knowledge of faith outside of The Bible.
