Re: The idea of "hate speech" is another infringement on religious freedom,
I believe in a flat tax or no tax at all.
So you think it's completely fair and a good idea if low income families have to pay 80% of their income in taxes while the wealthy pay less than 1% of theirs?

Re: First Amendment Violations
I would outlaw teaching other doctrines in my state, I'd have to if I want to preserve the faith the state is founded on.
What does it say about the value of your faith if it can't survive unless all other faiths are suppressed? Seems to me that any idea that can't stand on its own in a free marketplace of ideas isn't worth much.

Flat tax realities
Ah, when you said flat tax, I assumed you meant everyone paid the same amount.
So you think it's fair for a family of four making $30,000 to be taxed down to the poverty level while one making $1,000,000 has to scrape by on a mere $800,000? And you allow for the possibility that some people might get tax credits refunded to them, but not from tax money that came from other people. Where do you think that tax credit money is going to come from, taxing fish?
And if you think the economy of the Cayman Islands is in any respect analogous to the economy of the U.S., you have problems far beyond the ability of anyone here to deal with.

Oh, by the way, have you done any calculations to determine whether a 20% tax rate would general sufficient revenues? If so, I'd love to see them.

Re: Flat Assertion
I would rather argue for a flat consumption tax
And that is actually highly regressive. A family of four getting by on $23,000, the poverty level, spends all of their income just to survive, whereas a family of four earning $1,000,000 needs to spend only a fraction of that on their daily needs and thus would pay taxes on only a fraction of their income.
The real question is, why in the world do you want to create a disincentive to spend money, when it's the spending of money that drives the economy? Of all the silly ideas you've floated in this thread, this is the most ridiculous.
And please, STFU about the Caymans. That has fuck all to do with the U.S.
