Hi CS,
Hmmmm, crisis training, I don't know. Criminals seem to do OK without it. Don't you think?
BTW Wyoming is a complete open carry state but last year they passed a law so now as a resident I can concealed carry and don't need any kind of permit. Out of state people do or I do if I go to another state.

It doesn't add up
Well according to the opinions presented here, in most part, I should live in the state with the highest homicide rate.
I live in Wyoming which has the highest rate of firearm ownership of any state. 59.7% of the people in Wyoming own firearms.( think about that since people under 18 can not buy a gun and that's 23% of the population)
The homicide rate is 1.4/100,000 and from guns .9/100,000.
That is comparable to the homicide rates in Western Europe for the most part.
Lot of talk here about Texas where only 35.9% of people own guns. Their homicide rate is 5/100,000 and 3.2/100,000 for guns.
Why is that?
I don't think it's related to gun ownership, pro or con. At least I don't see any relationship there.
Maryland, 21.3% gun ownership, homicide rate 7.3/100,000, gun homicides 5.1/100,000.
Idaho, 55.3% gun ownership, homicide rate 1.3/100,000, gun homicides .8/100,000.
N.Y., 18% gun ownership, homicide rate 4.4/100,000, gun homicide rate 2.7/100,000.
La., 44.1% gun ownership, homicide rate 9.6/100,000, gun homicide rate 7.7/100,000.
Lots of things could affect the homicide rate. Many here seen to think it's gun ownership, I don't think so. The highest homicide rate in Canada is in Nunavut, 15/100,000. Is it the guns? No I think it's because the place is filled with Nunavut Indians and they think different than White Europeans.
The homicide rates in Central America are in the 30s and 40s/100,000. Do you think it's the gun laws? I don't, these people think differently than I do and you. I don't think it's right but I don't think gun laws are going to fix it.
Don't pass laws for everyone based on your ethnocentric viewpoint of how the world should be and how everyone should think.
Perhaps gun laws are needed for the out of control people in the UK, but they obviously are not for the people in Wyoming.

Slovene Home Guard
Frako,
Yes and the 5.56 can be quite effective against the Slovene Home Guard.
I've never lived in a country where the people did not have a right to be armed. Why don't you explain to us the great benefits of allowing the government to round up people, put them in camps, and then in ovens.
You know, my country was not a Nazi collaborator. Too bad you can't say the same.
What exactly is your interest/concern in the laws of my country?
Are you an Authoritarian Socialist Pig? They are very interested in telling everyone else how to live.

Just to bother Percy
Andrew Allegro's photo.
Andrew Allegro
11 YR OLD SHOOTS ILLEGALS thanks FOX NEWS for reporting it. BUTTE , MONTANA Shotgun preteen vs. Illegal alien Home Invaders...Two illegal aliens, Ralphel Resindez, 23, and Enrico Garza, 26, probably believed they would easily overpower home-alone 11-year-old Patricia Harrington after her father had left their two-story home. It seems the two crooks never learned two things: they were in Montana and Patricia had been a clay-shooting champion since she was nine.Patricia was in her upstairs room when the two men broke through the front door of the house. She quickly ran to her father's room and grabbed his 12-gauge Mossberg 500 shotgun. Resindez was the first to get up to the second floor only to be the first to catch a near point blank blast of buckshot from the 11-year-old's knee-crouch aim. He suffered fatal wounds to his abdomen and genitals. When Garza ran to the foot of the stairs, he took a blast to the left shoulder and staggered out into the ...street where he bled to death before medical help could arrive. It was found out later that Resindez was armed with a stolen 45-caliber handgun he took from another home invasion robbery. That victim, 50-year-old David 0'Burien, was not so lucky. He died from stab wounds to the chest.Ever wonder why good stuff never makes NBC, CBS, PBS, MSNBC, CNN, or ABC news........? An 11 year old girl, properly trained, defended her home, and herself......against two murderous, illegal immigrants.......and she wins. She is still alive. Now THAT is Gun Control!Thought for the day.... Calling an illegal alien an 'undocumented immigrant' is like calling a drug dealer an 'unlicensed pharmacist.'I like this kind of e-mail! American citizens defending themselves and their homes. BEING A TRUE AMERICAN, I THINK YOU'LL PASS THIS ON!

Re: School and Police Overreact. Again.
NoNukes,
I have a great idea. I just did a google search for "digital alarm clock with battery backup" which is what this bomb was.
There are a bunch on Amazon. They are cheap so lets buy one and take it apart. We can RTV, glue it or Velcro it into a briefcase. We are doing this because of our great interest in science and engineering. We then have ringo take it through security at an airport and see how that works out.
NoNukes, you appear to be a smart guy what would be your best guess as to why someone would buy a digital alarm clock with battery backup take it apart put it in a briefcase and take it to school and claim it was a clock he made.
Now you know why the police took him away in cuffs. They may not know as much about electronics as I do but I would have gotten a search warrant for his house to find the clock this stuff came from and who exactly bought it.
That he made it is a lie.

Knowing about things.
Omnivorous,
What I did was look at the pictures of this thing and determined it was a commercially manufactured digital alarm clock with battery backup. So he didn't make it.
I've been a licensed amateur radio operator since Feb. 1963, have held an FCC commercial radiotelephone license (required to repair communications and radar equipment on ships and airplanes), have 22 semester hours of college credits in electronics engineering technology and spent 7 years working as an electronics tech before I became a petroleum geologist.
And your qualifications are what?

Re: Knowing about things.
So who exactly besides me said he didn't make this clock?
I googled this story after reading about it here and what showed up were some CNN stories of which I read 2 and then looked at the pictures that showed up on my google search. The CNN stories were basically the same as what has shown up here, except it said he wasn't returning to school and in fact might be leaving the country.
There are about 650,000 amateur radio operators in the US and a much larger number who know about electronics and could spot the lie. So if he lied about making the clock do you think you he might be lying about anything else, like way he brought it to school? I noticed that everyone here just believed the news reports.
Oh and BTW people don't get arrested for breaking school rules unless the rule is the same as some existing law.
