I'd rather have my car stolen than my kid killed for stealing a car. I would want my child punished for stealing someones car, but feel death is a bit harsh. Faith, however, would rather shoot my child than have her car stolen. There is no reasoning that away.
Nobody seems to care what the founders had to say about the necessity of the Second Amendment because of the real threat of government and other forms of tyranny against the people, but THAT's the bottom line for me.
Then you must be for the private ownership of any and all forms of weaponry. Even if my whole neighborhood had semi-automatic weapons, we couldn't stop tanks and helicopters from destroying our homes. The neighborhood association would need weapons of equal power.
Does that work where you come from Faith? Honestly now, tell the truth.. does that work? Because where I come from, lots of people have guns. Lots of people have concealed weapons with permits so they can carry those guns. Cars get stolen. Homes get broken in to. People get robbed.
I believe I already answered you: SOME ability to resist is better than none. It's still about resisting tyranny and simple weapons can go a long way.
Simple weapons like spears and bows? I thought you had some kind of clear idea about your position on this.
We need guns to protect ourselves against the government (YOUR position BTW, I can and have quoted you saying so), in which case private citizens need access to better guns, or the whole point of them is moot. If you only need SOME little bit of resistance, then a pistol or a shotgun is more or less as effective against them as a spear or a bow.

And yes, if a kid knows the car owner is armed the kid will leave the car alone. Two plus two is four.
You are really going to take this position? What a joke, I should have known trying to discuss something with you was a worthless endeavor. It's much more like me trying to tell you 2+2=4, and you saying "NO HUH" and then stomping off in a huff.
It's common knowledge that guns are legal in this country. Gun owners still have their cars stolen. Gun owners have their homes burglarized.
But how very odd that this parent is requring me to be protecting his kid from harm during a criminal act as if it's just normal to expect a kid to commit car theft and and all he cares about is that the kid not be hurt and not taking responsibility that he raised a criminal. Things are truly upside down and backwards these days.
I may get suspended for this, but since it was directed at ME I will respond in the exact fashion I wish to.
You can go fuck yourself.
If you think the world would be a better place if everyone played Judge Dredd and acted as judge, jury, and executioner for whatever crime they so wished, you are certainly no Christian.
You are certainly not a decent person.
Not taking responsibility?
I would want my child punished for stealing someones car, but feel death is a bit harsh.
Is that not taking responsibility? I would want them punished. I just don't think they should be killed. How fuckin' awful of me. I forgot you are into that Old Testament style justice. Me, I have empathy. That makes me a whole lot better of a person.
If a kid steals something, candy perhaps, from a store, they should be punished. They shouldn't lose a hand. That's overreaction and a terrible example of parenting.
This kid just ran into my backyard to grab a soccer ball. I didn't invite him, should I have shot him? How many grand kids do you have Faith? Would you just say "Well, they had it coming" if I shot your grandchild in the face for touching my car? How about for looking suspicious in my neighborhood?
Somehow I value human life more than you do. Somehow I value human life over objects. And I am not a Christian. Weird. Things truly ARE are upside and backwards.
You've proven time and time again your logic means nothing.
If people with criminal intent are deterred by the threat of being shot, then they won't be shot. Seems logical to me.
Face it Faith, you've got nothing. Gun owners still get robbed. It hasn't stopped the criminals. It seems like the criminals just get bigger guns.
You are acting as if this kid must INEVITABLY try to steal a car, so that means if I'm going to defend my car he's going to INEVITABLY get shot. JUST TEACH HIM NOT TO STEAL!
No, what I am saying is that crimes like car theft inevitably happen. YOU are the one who said if threatened with being shot they would stop. But they don't stop. Sometimes they shoot back. Sometimes they do it when you are asleep. Guns don't necessarily help there, do they? It's YOUR ridiculous argument, and now that you've been called out on it you are trying to backpedal somewhere... ANYWHERE that you can be correct, even if that means acting like the things you've said were never said.
Ever done anything wrong Faith? Because lot's of parents teach their children right from wrong. Lot's of people put the fear of God in their children. Those same exact children STILL break the law sometimes.
