I have a theory that the sheer number of conspiracy theories around is part of a conspiracy to divert attention from conspiracies.

I woud say more to divert attention from actual facts. Like, "Here people, have fun chewing on 9/11 being an inside job to distract from what we're actually doing."

The question is whether the conspiracy theories really come from a bunch of nuts or from the Propaganda Ministry.

There might be some kind of government agency who's job is it to flood the internet with conspiracy garbage.
