First of all, it says in Isaiah 53 that, "For the transgressions of my people was he stricken". Seeing we know that Israel is God's people here, you have Isaiah saying that Israel was stricken for the transgressions of Israel, which is a strange grammatical way of saying that Israel suffered for its own sins. Also, how can Israel be an offering for its own sins? In the Old Testament, animal sacrifices were made to atone for the sins of the people of Israel. That is the point here. The messiah is that sacrifice.
