Ray Martinez made the "Encyclopedia of American Loons" list
Encyclopedia of American Loons: #918: Ray Martinez
quote:
Ray Martinez is a notorious internet kook who describes himself as an Old Earth Young Biosphere Protestant Evangelical Paulinist, and has been known to infest discussions e.g. at talk.origins and various creationist webpages. He is also an erstwhile Conservapedia editor, but apparently ran into some problems with the other editors there.
Martinez main things are the idea that the Bible is innerrant, that the Great Pyramid is a physical representation of the Bible, and that Atlantis exists in the Atlantic Ocean since its existence is proven by the fact that eels return to the Atlantic to spawn. To critics of his views on evolution, his common response is that he is on the verge of publishing a paper that will demolish Darwinism. The verge has lasted for the main part of a decade by now, but at least it will, according to Martnez, answer all their doubts.
Since Martinez’s can sometimes come across as dubiously coherent somewhat hard to understand, a superb Ray Martinez Dictionary has been made available for our benefit.
Diagnosis: Internet kook. Probably harmless.
Go to the source page for the links not preserved in the above quote.
The one comment so far:
quote:
Aww. You overlooked what I consider his most endearing feature. He also calls himself a "species immutablist", which means that he rejects even the "micro-evolution" that most other creationists are forced to admit happen. As a result, he spends almost as much time attacking other creationists as "evolutionists" as he does those who actually support modern evolutionary theory.
In other words, Ray M. has a really good thing going. Having decided that he is the only True Christian out there, he doesn't have to share the spotlight with anyone.

Holly Hobby Lobby
Let’s hold up a mirror!
I don't know if this person is part of the Hobby Lobby ownership family, but she did launch a fine piece of negative publicity for the company.
Which was followed up by someone else with:
The woman on the right was a Islamic suicide bomber.
I had a certain sympathy for the Hobby Lobby position, but if they want to start making themselves look like the Christian Taliban...

Did Obama Suggest Mandatory Voting? A: No.
Did Obama "Suggest Mandatory Voting?" A: No. - Little Green Footballs. :
quote:
This is one of those media distortions that makes me nuts, as CNN pushes the absolutely false meme that President Obama said anything like, Maybe it’s time for mandatory voting. Notice that the CNN headline attributes these words directly to Obama but he never said them.
Their own video clip shows what a ridiculous distortion this is; Obama is saying we should make voting easier, not make it mandatory. Yes, he mentions Australia where voting is mandatory, but only to make the point that it would be transformative if more people voted in the US. It’s a hypothetical statement. He didn’t advocate, call for, or even suggest making voting mandatory in the US.
But if the President was trolling the right with this statement, it worked. They’re all foaming at the mouth about this today.

Re: Did Obama Suggest Mandatory Voting? A: No.
Why did he bring the subject up?
I don't know the larger context of the speech, but I think he wished to promote voter turnout. And doing such is indeed to be to the Democrats benefit.
The Democratic party has the problem of getting their base to go to the polls and vote. And the Republicans are making efforts to further suppress this turnout.
why shouldn't he bring it up?

The post was, of course, typed in large bold print, double spaced,...
There actually is a half baked legitimate reason for that. As I understand it, he has a vision problem and thus likes using the larger print and spacing. Someone once tried to teach him the concept of (control +) to zoom to get larger print, but the lesson did not take.

But I still want to know how his stunt would prove the earth is flat.
Much more likely to prove that the earth is hard.
And that since he is flat, the Earth also must be flat.
