The Search for Moderate Islam

I know some kids--teens,actually...in Sweden. They are my internet friends. They are all Islamic. I believe that God arranged this meeting. Were I to tell them that their religion was wrong, how long do you think they would remain my friends?

There was a good editorial in todays Denver Post: Tip-toeing around Islamic extremism by Peter Singer, a professor of bioethics at Princeton University and Laureate Professor at the University of Melbourne.Regarding P.C. correctness and euphemisms regarding extremism being tied to Islam, the professor says

We dont really want to start a religious war, seeing as how Christianity---though less extreme (in the mainstream) is not much better for society. I shudder to think of a proposal to fight against all religion as a solution to stop this stuff.

It is a problem when Western political ideology is tied to the Christian religion. If Christians actually practiced what they preached, our culture would change. We would be less consumer oriented, less materialistic, more giving and more generous towards all cultures and beliefs. Moderate Islam would respect us.As it stands now, moderate Islam sees no superior virtue in the mindset of the West. They may not support ISIS and extremist Islam, but by their silence they also do not condemn it.
