I am glad that God doesn't take his orders from you. God is perfectly find with gay marriage, polygamy, polyandry, shacking up together, and being single.
He's just this groovy kind of guy.

I realize this runs counter to what we see today, particularly when looking at many chapters of Club Christian, where people tend to group around those who think like they do and avoid exposure to conflicting belief systems and worldviews.
Maybe thats what keeps me posting here at EvC. I can never get anyone here to agree with me...but come to think of it...if we ever agreed the challenge would cease to be and the fun would be over.

He was gay before he wasn't, so all this means is he's back to flying his original, rainbow colors.

He was gay before he wasn't,
Brilliant, faceman. Nice contribution.

I bet you learned more disagreeing with everyone, even if you didn't change your mind about any specific subject.

That's not all it means.
It also means that some of these pray-the-gay-away homosexuality "cures" are just a bunch of lying bull shit.

Yeah I think that's all it means. He was a wolf in sheep's clothing. First he was straight, then he was gay, then he was straight again, founded his ministry, only to find out - oops, still gay.
I don't doubt the power of prayer at all, when done by believers, but when a guy like that's leading the charge, then they're destined for failure.

Yes, look at him. Someone who sincerely and desperately believed and tried and tried and tried. And failed. Praying away the gay doesn't work.

Well that's ignorant and ad hoc.
More likely, he was always gay and just said that he was straight to hide it.

What this shows is that guys like that are leading these charges. How many of the pray-the-gay-away camps do you think are run by homosexuals and therefore destined for failure?
Don't they look like a scam at face value?

More like a sheep in wolf's clothing. He was always gay. He tried to be straight, realized he was gay, tried to pray it away and failed. That may be his own personal failure or it may be a failure of prayer in general.

That may be his own personal failure or it may be a failure of prayer in general.
Or it may just have been doomed to failure because change is not an option -- like trying to pray to change your skin color.
Enjoy.

There are some success stories. I know of one in particular of a lesbian who changed upon converting to Christ, Rosaria Butterfield. Unfortunately she doesn't say in this article how she overcame her homosexual desires, if it was a struggle etc, only that she did and is now married with children.
And THIS SITE suggests there are others, most of whom change on their own without the help of a group. I've only skimmed this site but it looks like it has a lot of information.
Today on the radio, however, I heard of a lesbian who became Christian, realized she couldn't change, and came to the understanding she would have to live celibate. Clearly some are not going to be able to change their desires.
Given the scripture that says homosexuality is sin and that homosexuals will not inherit the Kingdom of God, the best outcome would be change. If it just can't happen for an individual then living celibate is the only rational choice. if you believe that scripture is God's word. If you believe in eternal life shouldn't you choose to live in a way that will get you there? Best to cut off hand or put out eye if it keeps you from it. This life is short compared to eternity.
It doesn't matter if the guy who had the Pray the Gay Away Ministry was always gay or had himself talked out of it for a while, the choice he has made has severed him from God.
