Oh, by the way, the reason people keep calling you a bigot isn't because you are anti-gay (although that would be enough). It's because you insist on equating gays with "pedophiles or prostitutes or cheats and liars and thieves and murderers." So long as you do that, not only are you a bigot, you're a rather disgusting excuse for a human being, too.

But no chapter and verse, I notice.

Some of it was, certainly not all of it.

I equate them as to being SIN, not as to the severity of sin. But I don't care if you call me a bigot, it's become a badge of honor around here. In fact I should add that to the designation of my "sect" shouldn't I: Fanatically Conservative Paranoid Fundamentalist Major Nutcase Bigot. Right, Christians are "disgusting" according to today's revisionist politically correct evil for good and good for evil. Guess I should tack on "disgusting" to the title.

The government is not concerned with sins, churches are. Sin has no place in our governmental or judicial system. We are a country of laws not a theocracy intent on stamping out sin.
You have government confused with religion. The government has no duty enforcing your or any other persons religious proscriptions and beliefs.Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts "God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

You don't need chapter and verse, subbie, you know very well that homosexual acts are condemned in the Bible, and that marriage is prescribed even by Jesus Himself as between a man and a woman. That's the basis for refusing to serve a "gay wedding," as obviously to serve it would be to deny what God has said about both homosexuality and marriage.

Blackstone said ALL law derives from God.
In the Commentaries, Blackstone explained that the basis upon which English Common Law resides is a higher law, the law written by God and found in His scriptures and the created order. Because of this, man lacks authority to write a law that contradicts God’s law. In fact, this was the basic premise of the Declaration of Independence. Blackstone called this concept ultra vires, which means it is beyond the authority of man to write a law that violates God’s law. Blackstone also said that law is fixed, it is uniform, and it is universal. It does not change based on who the President is, or who holds judicial positions. It is the same law for everyone at all times and in all places. Blackstone’s influence on American law was pervasive and profound

And your beliefs are vile and hurtful. Gays are not evil. They are people, nothing more nothing less. They deserve our compassion and our desire for everyone to have life liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
This is the purpose of the Constitution.

I know your interpretation of the bible condemns homosexuality, but I didn't ask about that. I asked about baking a cake for a gay wedding.

I never said they were evil. We're all sinners, they are too. We don't give special rights to sin. What's evil is making them into a special class for special rights.

Faith writes: On the other hand, homosexuality is a Sin/Aberration. In the secular world, homosexuality is a sexual preference. In your religious world maybe it is a sin/aberration, but there are limits to the degree you can act on your religious beliefs. Slap a gay person in the face and you're risking a charge of assault, even in your own church. Refuse to sell to a gay person what you would sell anyone else and you're risking a charge of discrimination, denial of civil rights and the like.
We don't give special rights to sins. We don't give special rights to pedophiles or prostitutes or cheats and liars and thieves and murderers: we TAKE AWAY their rights. But religions don't get to decide what's legal and illegal. That's the state's responsibility, and the state doesn't hold homosexuality illegal. Homosexuals are not asking for special rights. They're asking for the same rights as everyone else.
All you've done is redefine a sin category into an Oppressed Minority category. Religious sins are not against the law, and the multiplicity of religions don't agree on what's a sin anyway. The Catholics used to believe it a sin to eat meat on Friday, but they would never call the police to report Methodists eating meat on Friday. That would have been absurd, yet you're making the equally absurd request that it be against the law for people to sin against your religion.
This is what GOD says, and what YOU say doesn't count against what God says. Someone as hateful as yourself definitely has no idea what God says. --Percy

Do you know anything about Blackstone or is it just a name you picked up on some fundy site? He isnt a founding father. Founding fathers wrote numerous times that the US was not in any way based on the Christian religion.

True religion, Christianity, did indeed originally define American law, and to now make homosexuality a special protected class is a violation of that original law and a slap in God's face. Slap MY face all you want, as you love to do, slapping God's face is a little more risky.

They wrote ONCE that it's not based on the Christian religion, that was Washington and Adams in trying to placate the Muslims who were as bloodthirsty then as they are now, and apparently they believed it themselves, but there were people even then who objected to that as a traitorous and false thing to say.
None of that changes the fact that AMERICAN LAW followed Blackstone's Commentaries. Edited by Faith, : No reason given.

But no law in the US has enshrined that comment into law. Therefore, that's irrelevant.
