I got started with at school. At Uni I learned Fortran IV and Pascal (and a little machine code) worked with those (and some others) for a few years and then switched over to mainly using C. Many years later, C is still my main language, although I do some Java work on the side.Object orientation may not be everything it was sold as, but it does help in some ways. Multi-threaded code is less difficult to write, for instance.
