Gen. 1:14-19 is the first mention of the heavenly bodies that can be seen from earth, while it is now in the second heaven. The groupings of the stars, there is no articulate speech or voice, and no words are heard, but their sayings have gone out into all the world (Ps. 19:1-6). Now their is a light for the day and a light of the night for the earth as it spins around.

Gen. 1:9-13 The water below the sky was gathered into one area which were called seas, that the dry land may appear. Then the earth sprout vegetation, seed bearing plants, fruit trees of every kind that bear fruit with the seed in it.

Gen. 1:6-8 Then there was expanse in the midst of the water, that it may separate water from water. The function of the sky is to separate the waters above (which fall as rain) from the subterranean waters (which rise as springs).

Gen. 1:2-5 Then all of a sudden, power from God swept over the water, as God said , Let there be light. What was this light that separated the light from the darkness. This light called day and the darkness called night?

So jar, I see what you are saying. You are right about ‘torah’ but understand, God leaves a figure of speech tail back to Gen. 1:1 to establish another truth. Gen. 1:1 When God began to create heaven and earth, this about all the different water gods or maybe one water god. But as figures of speech bring you back to Gen. 1:1, they tell another truth. So, jar could there be two truths in Gen. 1:1? In Gen. 1:2 when God's power swept across the water, that would be where the Sabbath would start?

But I have never said that the Sabbath is part of Gen 1:1, I said that the purpose of Genesis 1 was to establish the sacred week and the Sabbath.
It is broken down into days, the day is defined as starting at sundown, it defines a series of six days to be followed by a day of rest; the Jewish sacred week and the Sabbath. Have you ever actually read the Bible?Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

No, sorry Charley but you still don't seem to understand.
The Sabbath starts at sundown of the sixth day and ends at sundown of the seventh day. Days in Genesis 1 are the same length as days at anytime on Earth and last about 24 hours. It really is that simple. The God character and creation in Genesis 1 are just plot devices to enforce and justify the Jewish sacred week and the Sabbath. Gen 1, like the much older Genesis 2&3 tale are Just so stories meant to explain behaviors; Genesis 1 to explain weekly ritual and Genesis 2&3 to explain why childbirth seems to hurt more for humans than the other animals, why we fear snakes, why people must farm instead of just being hunter gathers, why men rule over women, why unlike all the other animals humans make and wear clothes and why we tend to build societies based on some understanding or right and wrong and justice and why there must be consequences for breaking rules. There are additional themes found in Genesis 1 and Genesis 2&3 but none of them involve long periods of time or floods or Satan or first and second heavens or any of the other stuff you have tried to market. For example, the God character in Genesis 1 is entirely different than the God character found in Genesis 2&3. Go back and reread them and as an exercise see if you can describe how the two gods differ.Anyone so limited that they can only spell a word one way is severely handicapped!

I accept what Genesis 1:1 says. It doesn't say anything about Lucifer or a flood.
You just refuse to except Gen. 1:1?

That copout doesn't work. If God was as powerful as he supposedly is, He'd have enough sense to give an exam that we could pass. If He's deliberately setting us up to fail, He's a poor teacher.
I think when people say things like this, they mean forced in the same sense that your professor is 'forced' to flunk you when turn in a blank final exam.

But figures of speech tell the story.
