Re: Hillary and Fracking?
Percy,
You know as much about fracking(sp) as you do brain surgery.
The article you referenced is talking about salt water injection wells, that is not where frac fluid ends up, it is recycled. Salt water injection wells take the production water from producing oil and gas wells and return it to the ground. Been doing that for over a hundred years.
How deep is the potable water at your house? You don't know. If you drill a 2000 ft. deep well at your house is the water potable or is it's salt content so high you can't use it for anything. Be truthful, you have no fucking clue, but you think you should vote on how I run my business.
The association between high pressure waste water injection and earthquakes goes back to 1968. This was because a geologist noticed the increase in earthquakes that corresponded to the high pressure injection of nuclear waste into a deep well in the Rocky Mountain Assenal, regulated and run by the Feds you so much like for oversight. It was also drilled right into the Denver Fault........the engineers in the Fed government thought that would be a good idea.
I've seen them do other crazy stuff like frac the RBEO-1 well near Rifle, Co. in the 1970s with three nuclear bombs. At USGS I was doing the log analysis on this well and had trouble getting the info I needed because it was classified.
Today there are gas wells within 1.5 miles of the RBEO-1 and have no radiation in their gas. Your USGS study associates salt water injection wells with earthquakes if they occur within 15km or 9 miles of the injection well. You might buy that BS but I'm a geologist and you are going to have to show me that. (BTW there are ways to test this communcation with pressure tests if it exists, BUT there aren't any here)
Basically your post showed me someone can read something, and because of a lack of background, has no clue what it really means

Cruz 2016
Just so you all know I have supported Mr. Cruz since the beginning.........with money as well.
I have many friends who support Bernie..... and I think they should go for broke, I think the DNC and Hillary are screwing them.
We just look at the world differently.
I get that, I'm a big kid, I can lose fair and square in an election, after it's all done maybe we can talk.

Re: Hillary and Fracking?
The price of gasoline was $1.45 a gallon in 1981..........my brother bought gas the other day in Denver for $1.29. That's the difference between the free market and the shit you sell. Do cars or houses cost less than they did in 1981? You don't know shit about the oil and gas industry or basic geology and it shows.

Today's news reports that fracking has placed 7 million Americans at risk of man-made earthquakes, USGS says. Here's a nice USGS map from the article:
Everyone please note this article does not say what Percy said it does, the USGS is NOT saying what Percy says. Read the article, it is about salt water injection wells..........it is not about fracking(sp).

I've read petrophysics1 post, above. As he is a Cruz supporter and a worker in the fossil fuel industry, I guess I would be more trusting of your words . . . or possibly Dick Chaney. Regardless, there is no way I could ever trust the fossil fuel industry or america's lack of serious regulation when it comes to health and the environment.
So go to linkedin and look up my name Martin P. Granica...........and read it and see if you think Percy knows more about this than I do......dronestar probably voted for Obama, his lack of knowledge is frightening.

Re: Fuck Moose - Full speed ahead
So Moose,'
Where exactly did I say that? You have a actual geologic/ environmental concern about fracking(sp) wells tell me what it is.
And I'll show how you are full of shit.
Go ahead, give it a stab.
What I worked at and did lowered the price of gasoline to the same price it was in 1981...................what have you done? That would be shit.

So you and my wife of 28 years say I need to work on my people skills.
I'd rather be right than nice , no one here has presented anything to show I'm wrong, that includes you.

Re: Hillary and Fracking?
Percy,
You think what the article says and what the USGS says are the same.
They are not.
Is this opening paragraph from the article incorrect
Yes, it is.......this is the opinion of the "journalist" not the USGS. Read what the USGS says.
So if I understand you correctly, your point is that the article is incorrect to say that frackers pump salt wastewater deep underground?
Yes, and you have no idea how stupid what you are saying sounds. If I have drilling fluid or frac fluid i need to get rid of......no person running a salt water disposal well will take it........Why?...because it wreaks their well ......and then they are out of business. Read that again.....it is not about the environment it is about staying in business (BTW the two happen to be the same)
I have maps of the underground aquifers in our neighborhood from the local water management board, but I don't understand the relevancy.
Well if some moron is telling me fracking(sp) affects drinkable ground water....then they must know how far down the drinkable ground water goes.
You know if I'm fracing something 2 miles down, and the drinkable ground water water is only 750 0r 1000ft from the surface. You do understand no one is able to crack the rocks from 2000' to the surface much less 2 miles....you could get all the Halliburton shit in the world and you couldn't do this. Your argument like Faith's on the angular unconformity is based on a physical impossibility.
Aren't the people at USGS also geologists?
Yes, try reading what they said........instead of the journalist.
