Yes that has to be the scientific answer.

But the Bible tells us God created the heavens and earth in the beginning.

Well therein lies the problem. One system is rational the other isn't.

I know the scientific community does not like to give any credence to the Bible

Quite

but at present it is the only book that tells us how it began to exist and why we are here.

There are stacks of books that tell us how the author(s) imagine all this came about. The obvious questions are why yours is any better than all the others and why anyone should take notice of what's written in a book anyway.

The First Thing is the first thing to ever exist. At the point of its existence there is nothing else in the universe.

Nope, the first thing is that we don't understand the first thing about what something and nothing are.

"obvious" doesn't begin to describe it.

My proof still stands no matter what the first thing is.

What if the first thing was nothing?

A confusion of terms and another red herring.

I'm trying to show you that without defining 'nothing' you can't even start your argument. I don't know what nothing is, do you? Is it even possible for nothing to exist? How would you know?

Re: Simple question. Simple answer.
Nope. Because they are independent, one might have a 99.99999999% chance and the other 0.00000001%. Or any combination of numbers in between.
