Turkey had announced their plans for months what makes you think they would not have carried out those plans. They are armed to the teeth with our best military weapons.
So let me rephrase my question.
Would you be willing to go to Syria and put your life on the line to protect the Kurds?
If you say you are too old and you have children or grandchildren are you willing for them to go to Syria and put their life on the line to protect the Kurds?
I am 80 years old and I would be willing to fight and die to protect the second amendment right to keep and bear arms. But I would not be willing to go to Syria and fight for the Kurds. Outsiders can not solve a family feud.
JonF writes:
The fact that their real and obvious goal is to wipe out the Kurds.
The Kurds have the goal to wipe out the Turks. This is a family feud that started with 2 brothers some 3,000 years ago.
Do you really think we can solve such a problem. The only way to solve the problem would be to kill all of them or for them to decide to stop the feud.

The Kurds were fighting when we got there. Therefore we helped them.
We did not have to go into Syria.

And they are smart enough not to do anything while our troops were there.
That is a big assumption.

Why do you think war is the only answer?
Because it is a family feud.
Until the families decide to stop fighting each other they will continue to fight. They will not be stopped by outsiders.

Bullshit. The Kurds have a goal of their own country.
Before they can do that they have to stop killing each other. There are 3 groups in Syria the SDF which was fighting ISIS the YPG who Turkey believes are just an extension of the PKK which is the banned Kurdistan Workers' Party.
They are citizens of Syria. There are many Kurds who are citizens of Turkey

and vice versa, do you really think Turkey is going to declare war on the US?
The U.S. and Turkey was talking about a 20 mile deep buffer zone between Syria and Turkey. Both had agreed it should be there. Turkey wanted the buffer between them and the Kurds. Also they wanted it to build settlements for the 2 million Kurdish and Syrian refugees in Turkey to be returned too their own country.
Somehow those talks and agreements went sour and Turkey decided to secure the zone by themselves. Probably due to some of the red tape that would be required if the U.S. was involved.
So yes I believe just as President Trump believed that Turkey was going to establish the zone that had been agreed upon. So the choice then became whether to allow Turkey to carry out those plans or to go to war with them.

Did you even read my post and understand what I was telling Phat?
Do you claim to be a Christian? If you did you would understand that Phat was calling the Christians nuts that were supporting Trump.
So Phat wanted to know why evangelical Christians support Trump.
I am a Pastor but I don't claim to be a Christian as my definition of Christian is much stricter than what is generally held. My definition is a person that is living a life like Christ. I am a born again child of God but I am far from being Christlike. I am working on it.
Definition of Pro-Life: opposing abortion and euthanasia.
Actually Pro-Life will overlook abortion for rape and incest.
I am anti-abortion: My view is that anyone who aborts a birth after the 23 male and 23 female chromosomes mix and become 46 chromosomes which is a life, commits murder. Anyone who assists in an abortion is also guilty of murder. If two people rob a store and one shoots and kills a person they both are tried for murder. I believe a person who is convicted of murder should forfit their life. So yes I believe in capital punishment and it should be used for a capital crime.
So Trump is a long way from what I believe but I can live with that. Because he is not nearly as far away as any alternative at present.
Pro-choice is choosing to do what you think is right.
I even believe in choice. If you don't want to produce children then don't have sex or if you do use protection. Heck they give away birth control pills to 8th graders.

I lived and worked in a foreign country for 15 years. When I first went overseas I have to pass a physical, and have a clean police record. My employer had to purchase a work permit for me at a cost of $1250 plus a $450 deposit so if the government wanted to deport me. My employer had to furnish me a place to live that had to pass government inspection at anytime they wanted to check it out. They had to furnish me with health insurance. They had to furnish me with a living wage. My work permit had to be renewed every year and a clean police record. If the record was not clean the permit would not be renewed.
Any employer who hired a worker who was not a citizen that did not have a permit was fined a huge fine for the first offense for each person without a permit. The second offence the fine was doubled, and was doubled thereafter until they decided it was too expensive to work people who did not have permits. That was usually after the first offense.
When my wife joined me she had to have a permit to just live there and could not work. She had to be covered by my insurance. It was private insurance. I had a total knee replacement operation and a partial knee replacement and they did not cost me one penny.
During my entire stay in the foreign country I could not cost the government one penny.
We have laws that was signed into law by Bill Clinton that would solve our immigration problems if they were enforced. Most folks probably don't even know they exist.

He promised that Mexico would fund the wall construction,
In the last 6 months Mexico has funded a wall that has reduced the illegal entries into our country by 1/2. They have 27,000 soldiers on their southern border. That is a pretty good wall. But for the problem to be fixed we have to remove the incentives.
14174 writes:
With TRILLION dollar deficits
Well we doubled the deficit under Obama and looks like we will add at least 8 trillion under Trump. But if we don't stop spending more than we have coming in it will never change until we go bankrupt.
And if you think it is bad now just wait until a person is elected as our president and has a senate and house to support them in giving away free stuff.
There is no such thing as free in this world.
Free education does not exist. Somebody has to pay the bill.
Free health care does not exist. Somebody has to pay the bill.
There is no such thing as free money. Somebody has to earn it.
There is no such thing as free energy. Everything has a cost.
Every dollar that the government spends on illegal aliens has to either be collected from the citizens or borrowed from someone.
Since only 35.3 % of the civilian non-institutional population are working the income stream is very narrow. It hasn't helped that we have disposed of some 30 million taxpayers we would have at present by abortion. That would increase the tax base by 1/4 of the present base. Then you add the effect on the GDP due to consumption and we would be in a lot better shape. but still a long way from reducing our debt.
There is only one way to reduce debt and that is to spend less than you take in.
The problem with government is that the money that is spent is collected from others therefore those that spend it are not careful with how they spend other peoples money.
We have billions of dollars that are wasted. Once I heard a senator say that a billion here and a billion there and pretty soon it adds up to real money.
14174 writes:
massive cuts to both Medicare and Social Security.
You are probably right on this. But as of right now there is supposed to be over 3 trillion dollars in the SS trust fund. But all that is there is IOU'S from the federal government. In other words they have spent the money and now the government has to pay interest on that money. But that is the problem when you handle other peoples money. If you were a lawyer, accountant or banker and done what they have done you would go to jail.

Hi Taq
Taq writes:
We've had borders for the entire existence of our country, an no one is saying that we shouldn't have borders.
When people walk across our borders without authorization we do not have borders. We just have a line we call a border.
Taq writes:
That conflicts with his pro-life position since this will require letting illegal aliens die outside of hospitals.
Why do you feel the taxpayers of the United State should be responsible for someone who has entered our country without our permission?
We can not fix the worlds problems. We have spent over 10 trillion dollars in the middle east proving that point.
Taq writes:
He is about to be impeached for breaking some of the most important and foundational laws of our land, the solicitation of foreign governments for interference in our elections.
Would you care to quote me the words where he solicitated foreign governments to interfere in our elections, and point me to the source.
Taq writes:
He denigrates the FBI and CIA on a regular basis.
He is the chief law enforcement officer in the U.S. So if he needs to call out blatant misuse of power by people like Comey and Brennen and many others in the FBI and the CIA just how is he supposed to do that, without making a lot of waves?
Then again you probably think they did nothing wrong or illegal.
Taq writes:
The problem is that he considers the law as part of that establishment.
Where do you get such an idea as that?
He appointed two supreme court judges that believe in the Constitution as it was written not as a living changing document.
The law is what is passed by congress and signed into law by the President.
You fuss about the laws that have been signed into law by Clinton and other Presidents when Trump tries to enforce them. If you and other don't like the laws that are on the books then get congress and the President to change them.
Taq writes:
He has abused his offic to openly solicite foreign interference in our elections to make it an unfair playing field.
Get off that hobby horse and present you evidence that support such accusations.
Taq writes:
"Foreign investment
I did not say anything about foreign investment. The investment I was talking about was the companies that returned that Bush and Obama had got rid of.
Taq writes:
For the record, I am paying your Social Security. It is not a savings account but a pay-as-you go system where working people pay benefits to retirees. Also, this:
The interest on the IOU's in the lock box pays for current benefits plus the collected SS receipts collected now.
But be not deceived if the bunch of thieves in Washington had not stolen the funds from the SS and used it for other things there would be over 3 trillion dollars in the SS fund today.
Just be aware that those guys will not use your money as carefully as you will. That is the reason there is so much waste fraud and corruption in Washington.
Taq writes:
What in the heck does that mean?
No gas automobiles.
No diesel trucks hauling supplies.
No cows to produce milk.
No coal to produce electricity.
Nuclear power to generate electricity is too dangerous.
No airplanes to fly in. They burn aviation fuel.
All of our factories would have to close down.
These are just a few of the problems we would face.
Where would the food we eat come from?
The huge tractors that till the land and are used to cultivate and harvest the crops burn diesel fuel.
So if the plans of some of our presidential hopefuls were carried out we would in my opinion not even stop with the 1800's.
What would you suggest to fix the flying problem?
What would you suggest to fix the hauling problem?
A tractor and trailer can have a total weight of 80,000 lbs. Anything over that requires special equipment and a special permit. Width has a limit without a permit.
To move 80,000 lbs down the road requires a lot of energy just like the tractors on the farms require a lot of energy.
If you wanted to use batteries and operate them on electricity the batteries required would probably exceed the 80,000 lb weight restriction for an 8 hr. trip. Tractors in the fields would meet the same problems.
So the only thing left would be to go back to horses and buggies as it was not mentioned about doing away with horses yet. Oxen would be out as they are cows.
Can you see how stupid some of the ideas that have been proposed are?
As far as I know there is no research into how to replace all the energy needed to keep our cell phones, AC"s and the rest of our lifestyle as it is today.
If you got any ideas I would like to hear about them.
Remember energy can not be created. It has to be changed from matter into energy

Anyone doubt they tried in 2012?
Anyone doubt they tried in 2008?
Anyone doubt they tried in 2004?

They despise our type of republic government. They have been trying to mess up our system since shortly after WWII, and will continue to do so in the future.
BTW our government is not a democracy as everybody hollers about. It is a republic that is based on the Constitution.

I am not sure there are bonds that the trustees have.
We are in bad shape now with a total debt including unfunded liabilities of over 230 to 300 trillion dollars. Using the number of 20 trillion dollars GDP per year that would consume 15 years of GDP without spending a penny on anything else.
We started on this slide when we left the gold standard and went to fiat money. Since then the presses can't print money fast enough.
In the very near future that bubble is going to burst and then reality will set in. I hope everyone is prepared.

Yes I know a country you can not get into without their permission. In fact if you go on a vacation there and decided you want to extend your stay you had better go to the immigration office and get an extension which you have to pay for. If you just overstay the day after you were supposed to leave an immigration officer will find you and you had better be in the hospital or you will be on the next plane leaving the country.
So yes there are countries that have borders and their laws are strictly enforced.
If the laws Bill Clinton signed into law was enforced we would not have people walking across our borders.

The only offense those people have committed is in holding the president accountable.
So you are OK with the lying to the Fisa Court to get a search warrant to spy on American citizens.

I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it. I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike... I guess you have one of your wealthy people... The server, they say Ukraine has it. There are a lot of things that went on, the whole situation. I think you're surrounding yourself with some of the same people. . .
The other thing, There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great... It sounds horrible to me.

The first paragraph is talking about the 2016 so called Russian interference and Hillary's email server.

I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine,
What is wrong with that request?
The second paragraph is talking about a brag that Joe Biden made on national tv about giving Ukraine 6 hours to fire a prosecutor or they would not get a billion+ dollars in aid. The prosecutor that took his place settled the case that was being prosecuted for a fine of a few million dollars. The company was one Hunter Biden was on the board of directors.

What is wrong with asking for Ukraine to help our Attorney General with his investigation into this matter.
Joe Biden did exactly what you and everyone else here is blaming Trump for doing.
According to Joe Bidden he told the government he was leaving in about 6 hours and if they did not fire the prosecutor before he left they would not get the billion+ dollars in aid.

Too bad the president himself doesn't believe in the US Constitution, as shown by his belief that an impeachment is unconstitutional.
They why did he invite Nancy Pelosi to call a vote in the House to begin a legal impeachment process?

No one is saying we should get rid of these until we have a true replacement. Do you think a Tesla electric car is equivalent to a horse drawn carriage? Do you think using solar panels is like going back to the 1800's?
That is not the rhetoric I hear coming from our democratic hopefuls that are running for president.
Taq I operated and electric earth moving machine in 1958. It had electric motors to control everything. Steering, raising and lowering of the pan, unloading the dirt that was in it, and the braking system.
It took a 900 hp engine to run the generator required to operate that machine. It burned 180 gallons of diesel in a 12 hour day.
A semi tractor/trailer has a maximum of 80,000 lbs. payload what would the batteries weigh that would be required to operate the vehicle?
In the tesla you mention the batteries weigh 1200 lbs. and will go 350 miles on a full charge.
With a normal tractor with a sleeper and a 53 foot trailer the empty weight with full fuel tanks is 35,000 lbs. Giving a 45,000 lb. payload possible.
Add Batteries to the same tractor/trailer 35,000 + 20,400 for the batteries using the tesla formula and your possible payload is reduced to 24,600 lbs. So we would have to increase the number of trucks on the road by almost double to deliver the same amount of goods.
The same formula of the tesla probably would not work for the semi as it would probably require a lot more power to operate the truck than the tesla. Semi's average 7 to 8 miles per gallon of diesel.
That is less than 1/3rd of what my Nissan does. So the tesla formula probably would not work as the semi would require more energy. Every lb. you would have to add in batteries would reduce the payload.
And yes solar panels are great. I looked into getting them for my house and it would cost me 30K to outfit my house then there would be the maintenance on the system. At my age it is not cost effective.
How is the electricity produced to charge the tesla's batteries?
God Bless
