Re: On a weird note...
this is the kind of stuff that normally would cause a rational person to say "that's too crazy to believe" but in the age of trump nothing is too crazy.

I fully expect to wake up tomorrow morning and tell people, "You wouldn't believe the dream I had last night - Donald Trump was elected President.... Stop laughing.... Stop laughing...."

"Ok, I'll stop laughing. I had a similar dream that Boris Johnson was elected Prime Minister . . . stop laughing . . . stop laughing . . ."

Interesting USA Today Poll
A USA Today/Suffolk University Poll contained some very interesting numbers. Naturally it reflected the recent change that a plurality of Americans favor impeachment and removal from office, and it showed the Democratic numbers much higher than the Republican, but I found the numbers on a few other related issues more interesting.

10% of Democrats and 36% of Republicans think the whistleblower is a traitor, despite the very specific definition of treason in the Constitution that makes that impossible.

Only 56% of Americans know that impeachment begins in the House, only 55% that impeachment is not removal, and only 62% that it takes a 2/3 majority vote in the Senate for removal.

Only 15% expect removal through impeachment. Very few expect resignation.

Unrelated to the poll, one question I've seen discussed among pundits is whether the House should focus narrowly on just the whistleblower chargers, i.e., have just a single article, or whether it should should include articles on obstruction of justice, campaign violations, emoluments, politicization of executive branch departments, and an absence of the candor expected of someone in high office.

Re: Interesting USA Today Poll
I've been watching the spectacle in America on various channels for the last few weeks. I was in what we call the bundus. No internet connection, but satellite tv is available everywhere. What I really got from it was that, every time The Orange Thing appeared saying something on tv, there was tumultuous laughter. Coupled with great curiosity about what The Orange Thing wanted to say.

I also understand why Africa looks at China for leadership. No clown as a leader.

Re: Interesting USA Today Poll
I noticed a fairly strong chinese presence hear in South Africa. The guesthouse we are staying at seems to be owned by a chinese company. In Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe there seemed to be a lot of Chinese signs and tradenames also.

Facts don't lie or have an agenda. Facts are just facts

"God did it" is not an argument. It is an excuse for intellectual laziness.

If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

House should explore the all of the Trump sleaze
...one question I've seen discussed among pundits is whether the House should focus narrowly on just the whistleblower chargers, i.e., have just a single article, or whether it should should include articles on obstruction of justice, campaign violations, emoluments, politicization of executive branch departments, and an absence of the candor expected of someone in high office.

I say "do it all". And take as much time as you want, even up to election day 2020. Get maximum exposure to the wallowing in slime that is Trump and the Republican party.

The bottom line is that I have a lot of faith in the wisdom of Nancy Pelosi, to do it right as possible.

Rolled?
:EXCLUSIVE: OFFICIAL WHO HEARD CALL SAYS TRUMP GOT 'ROLLED' BY TURKEY AND 'HAS NO SPINE

quote:
Donald Trump got "rolled" by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, a National Security Council source with direct knowledge of the discussions told Newsweek.

In a scheduled phone call on Sunday afternoon between President Trump and President Erdogan, Trump said he would withdraw U.S. forces from northern Syria. The phone call was scheduled after Turkey announced it was planning to invade Syria, and hours after Erdogan reinforced his army units at the Syrian-Turkish border and issued his strongest threat to launch a military incursion, according to the National Security Council official to whom Newsweek spoke on condition of anonymity.

The U.S. withdrawal plays into the hands of the Islamic State group, Damascus and Moscow, and the announcement left Trump's own Defense Department "completely stunned," said Pentagon officials. Turkey, like the United States, wants regime change in Syria. Russia and Iran support the Assad regime.

"President Trump was definitely out-negotiated and only endorsed the troop withdraw to make it look like we are getting something—but we are not getting something," the National Security Council source told Newsweek. "The U.S. national security has entered a state of increased danger for decades to come because the president has no spine and that's the bottom line."

The guy is the exact opposite of what his supporters think he is.

How many troops are in that area to bring home?

God Bless

Re: Rolled?
He’s threatened to destroy the Turkish economy if they do anything. Whether Erdogan will take that seriously is another matter.

There’s enough criticism from the GOP that it might make a difference if Impeachment goes through. I doubt that it would be enough to get a conviction, but enough to be embarrassing.

Trump was also handed another defeat in court - being President doesn’t put him beyond investigation so his tax returns may not be secret much longer.

Re: Rolled?
The Emperor's new clothes are getting threadbare ...

Two (count em 2) whistleblowers.

Lost court case re income tax returns.

Conspiracy case against Biden a big blowout

The returns on the tax/trade war with China getting worse.

Throws (Christian) Kurds to the wolves.

What's next?

Enjoy
