Trump avoided giving explicit instructions , so it’s going to be argued. But it is more evidence for incitement.For me the killer argument is how else were they going to win? Pence wasn’t going along with the craziness, the House wouldn’t pass any objections - and with McConnell opposing it wasn’t even clear that the objections would win in the Senate.Even if they’d sent a load of death threats to Republican Congressmen it’s hard to see how a demonstration outside the Capitol would have made a difference. Pence was following his Constitutional role and the objections were going to fail.Trump told them to go out and be strong and they could reverse the election. A demonstration wouldn’t do that and I’m sure they knew that much.

Trump’s presidency started poorly and ended even worse. From the mishandling of the pandemic to his attempts to destroy democracy and sabotage his successor. And he could run again in 2024 and maybe even when if the Republican vote suppression machine pulls out all the stops.The Republican Party needs to clean house now. It already resembles the Augean Stables and if it is allowed to fester it will get worse. End the sham calls for unity, vote to convict Trump and disqualify him from office - and the same for those who openly supported the insurrection. If the Republican Party has any care for the nation they’ll do it.

The goal now is to capture at least 140 Republican House Seats, at least half of the 20 Republican Senate Seats up for reelection and at least three Republican Governorships in 2022 as well as as many State Legislature seats as possible.
